The vm had been set at 840kb so that would be the vm problem sorted I would think, at least I haven't had it pop up again yet but I did have to re-boot and it takes a while before it pops up but fingers crossed.

Still having problems with ie freezing on me and shutting down though. Was wondering if it could be anything to do with my graphics card?
Have you tried running IE in safe mode, no plugins etc?
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

Do you have the most up to date drivers for your graphics card? And what is your card?

Also sounds like spyware / malware is a very likely candidate. A scan with malwarebytes would probably show this up, and the previously mentioned use of Firefox is also sound advice.

Think it's time for a clearout Ben....

you'll need CCleaner, MalwareBytes AntiMalware, Spyware Doctor and Spybot search & destroy (all free and safe, available from majorgeeks.com)....then we can clean up your system, stop the unwanted carp from running in the background, and make your bingo better ;)

..oh, and you'll be wanting HijackThis too, to help see what's going on on the pc....as t'others have said, if it's running so badly with 4GB in there, there's some serious carp somewhere inside...
    ......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

Thanks for the help folks do you need me to post a hijack print first? I remember seeing a thread with the above mentioned programs if someone could point me in the right direction I'd be a happy bunny, will have a look at geeks.

ben - you can get hijackthis via geeks also...a one-stop shop for most things like this....before you start, though, do a disk cleanup and defrag (my computer, right-click your hard drive, properties, disk cleanup...let it clear out what it finds, then go to the tools tab, defragment, and run the defragger....then run hijackthis and pop the log on here.

p.s. this may take some time if you've never done it before and dependant on how big/full your HDD is...

Ok I will bag hijack from there and follow your instructions, I had jumped the gun a little and started downloading and running some of the geeek stuff but will stop and run the defrag etc, no problems with regards to long process I am aware of that thanks again for your help. I'll come back once my defrag is complete with hijack log.

must admit I'll be off to bed in a couple of minutes (the joys of clearing out the dreaded under-the-stairs cupboard in the morning :(), but there are lots of nice helpful on here...this time of night may be a little late for some of them. Get the log up on here, and edit the thread title to say you've done so, and I'm sure it'll get looked at pretty soon :)
