That's because in Lidl it is actually 4 pints (2.272 litres) and in Iceland the cartons are smaller (tho cleverly designed to look the same size) at only 2 litres.
Tesco's new "discounted line" Fresh n Lo milk uses the same approach, as it's only a 2 litre size, but still is actually cheaper per 100mls if you compare.0 -
I would be ashamed of myself if I did not get the best value for money that I could. I don't care what people think - just as long as the food is edible!
Once a week I shop in Tesco's (07.30 in the morning on a Wednesday - the day a lot of offers change - so get quite a few good DTDs!). The rest of the time our local Lidl opens at 08.00 in the morning so do a lot of my shopping in there on the way back from collecting the paper, and we also have an Aldi nearby where I buy baked beans, tomatoes, digestives and the suchlike. I don't like to think how much this method has saved me over the years!
The only thing that annoys me about Lidl and Aldi is that they do not take coupons! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
Yet did you notice that if you bought 2 x 2 pints of their organic milk, this was £1.50- much cheaper than any other source!oshoshitzu wrote: »Lidl is not cheaper on everything for example milk in Lidl is £1.49 for 4 pints whereas in Iceland it's £1.25Worse things will have happened in the world today..."The only thing that really matters, it to love and to be loved."0 -
Guessing this is a tongue-in-cheek post as you can hardly class yourselves as "The Poor People," if you're off skiing! Unless, of course, you're planning on wearing the gear around the house to save on your heating bills?!Well I joined the ranks of the poor people and shopped at LIDL
Fantastic deals on ski wear i got helmets , ski clothing for all the family .
There are some great bargains still to be had
Regards
MC

There's a lot of snobbery about the difference between cheap and expensive products. Cooking from scratch requires commitment and imagination - two things I would like to teach my children and also to watch their pennies so the pounds look after themselves.Proud to be dealing with my debts Nerd #992 LBM 30.06.08 Debt [strike]£3292[/strike] £1646 (50% paid, all interest free) Sealed pot member #434 £65.09 & Virtual sealed pot member #001 £82.07+£33.04+£112.83=£227.94 Gave up smoking 30.01.09 DfDay 01.12.09

Crikey! Thought I'd been conned - just dashed out to the fridge and whew my Iceland cartons of milk are standard 2.272litres - so it says on the label.
I buy the Fresh n Lo milk on my way to work for work - I'll be checking on them too.

and we will never, ever return.0 -
I agree with that Annie, Ive seen lots of things in Lidl I wouldnt pay more for, it usually is the branded items. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Lidl isn't cheaper for branded items as they wouldn't sell those in their stores outside the UK so they can't get the same discounts as say Morrisons or Tesco could. For own brand stuff they are on a par.0

i love lidl and aldi, some really nice things ( i couldnt do a whole weeks shop there but do pop in once a week usually)
i also shop @ tesco,co op,sainsburys,asda
i am lucky to have all these within a few miles ,so if they have a good deal on i can take advantage of it
i am not poor lol but i love getting a bargain
i dont buy many "value" products but i find the supermarkets own ( next level up) just as good as the most expensive branded items0
