Who does shop at Lidls and buys value products?

I use whichever shop and brand is cheapest for the goods I need. Aside from hubbys cola which has to be the real thing there is not a thing that enters my trolley that isn't the best value available. However I am ashamed to say that just recently our food bill for 2 + 2 has rocketed to around £40 a week.Loving the dtd thread. x0

My Mum & I both shop at Aldi, Lidl and Morrisons so we can get the best things from each place. I can never understand why some people think that you can only shop at one store and not a combination of all of them.
Today's bargain was fresh smoked salmon reduced to £1.49 in Aldi, as it can be frozen that's Christmas morning breakfast sorted out!

I shop a lot in Lidl.
There are some really good buys in there.
The chocolate digestives (as good as McVities), bananas, yoghurts, sardines, cooked meats, ravioli, oven chips, seafood pizzas and some cereals are very good quality/value.
Also the range of goods and prices they sell at is cheap and the quality is usually good.
Lidl won a Which award and more and more of their products get well reviewed in comparison tests in magazines.
I do shop in Aldi,Tescos, Iceland, and occasionally M&S as well.
Lidl fits the bill for quality/cost on most of what I buy :TIf it's not a bargain, it's not worth buying

Where on earth does this 'shame' thing come from?!? I know a whole pile of people who mix their shopping amongst the mid-level supermarkets, the supposed 'higher level' supermarkets M&S and Booths (around here), and Aldi/Lidl/Netto. They don't do so on the basis of a positive informed choice on a balance of quality, value for money and convenience.
Until reading some of these threads, I'd never come across people whose sense of identity and status was so deeply connected to where they shop and the brands they buy - on some threads there are very heated arguments about it! I wonder why some people are looking at MSE in the first place if they think that quality is determined by price or brand!0 -
We usually shop Tesco but we tried Aldi for a big shop the other night and were very surprised. Good choice, good quality and significantly cheaper prices on many lines.0

the Bernays foundation says your worth is determined by the adverts you believe. You wouldn't argue with a foundation would you? they're founded.

we use all the shops not a huge fan of netto but otherwise use all the others. we buy the deals from the main supermarkets then use aldi as its the most local shop to use dont have a corner shop. We buy alot of value products and if its nice we buy it again if it horrid we dont.
what happened to the days where you had a choice of 2 products one for was cheap one was expensive.
i do have to say i wouldnt but frozen value sausages as there is hardly any meat in them but dont judge people who do as we all have to eat and if thats all they can afford then fine.0 -
The discounters spend less on nice packaging, nice store lay-outs, staff, marketing, advertising and overheads - so ultimately you get more food for your money. We always start our shop in Lidl, then fill in the rest in the town's other supermarket. Saving on those basics means I can spend more on what I care about, such as for example organic beef from a local farmer.
thats why they have been succesful to a certain point, they go for the basic/simple look, tehy dont have 6 differnet types of cornflakes but have 1 box of cornflakes and the trolleys have the pound locks on them so they dont go missing, i shop at both and i dont feel asahmed, i do prefer to shop at either, i dont think people should feel ashamed of shopping at either of the 2, if the foods good then why not shop there0 -

Blessed is he who in the name of charity and good will shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children.
