Me miss, I do, I do! No, not embarrassed: faintly smug, perhaps, examining the trolleys of those who worry 'what people will think' when making their selections... Possibly even a bit of a superiority complex going on...
BTW has anyone else noticed that value muesli is cheaper weight for weight than value oats? and you get nuts and fruit in and can still make yummy porridge with it. Sometimes things make no sense...0 -
yes we :jdo and we are not poor the tinned fish in lidl is brilliant and much better choice than other supermarkets also olive oil is good they also now sell free range chickens the range of european christmas treats is great and they sell fair trade coffee and chocolate ( which tastes good) also big jar of olives is cheap and we buy apple juice basically we buy what we can there and other things they don't sell we get when we go past another shop and we have an organic vegbox + fruit box and eggs delivered every week. It only isn't very good for specialised things we have to buy like dairy free things or vegetarian protein.

I used to shop at Aldi, because I liked the continental food. Recently though they have gone much more British, so I have switched to Lidl. (We have just come back from a German holiday, in the chilled cabinet of the local Lidl was the same hotdogs, same brand, same packaging, that we had been eating there). Some of the food is hit and miss, I have bought one offs that I have never seen again. But it's all good though.
The price is excellent as well.0 -
I buy at various different places as they all sell different things I like!
For example..
Lidl have the best parma type ham at only £1.24, aldi is the same price and almost as good, supermarkets are at least twice the price and half as nice!
Waitrose do delicious curries!
M&S do fab vegetarian salads, nice biccies and things. All are a bit expensive so only get them as a treat occasionally.A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -

Lidals is cheaper for milk in our store in north east hampshire. They have had the 4 pint offer of, buy two 4 pints 4 £2 for quite some time. Although i am assured this is not in every store, and it is down to the store managers to decide.0 -
You know I was thinking a bit more about this. If we were very well off, as in my OH was earning ten or twenty times as much, I expect I would probably not spend as much time budgeting and just go for one mass shop a week in Waitrose/Sainsburys. Because you do need to put a bit of effort into budgeting after all and if we had that amount of cash why bother?
I'd also employ someone to cook it all, and to do the cleaning lol. And all the other household stuff while I went off for a manicure. Ohh, we can dream, eh?Val.0 -
I shop in lidl, netto and pound shops. couldn't care less what any one else thinks. in fact i make a "B" line for the reduced shelf every morning in the local tesco see if there is anything i can use for lunch, nine out of ten days there is some cheese or ham available.Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow..

I shop at Lidl and Aldi and only buy clothes in the sale so that I can go on holiday abroad four/five times a year and I can afford to pay for work to be done in my house eg the loft conversion I am having at the moment.0

Well I pop into our local lidel which is 5mins away every 2 weeks to go some items and got some really good bargains yesterday such as miller light for £1.49, cheese for £2.60 - cheap compared to some of the supermarkets. Anyway today went to sainsburys for a wee change and stocked up on other items, only £16 - really chuffed with myself. Also I have noticed B & M Bargains where I can get some tins at very reasonable prices and it is within walking distance. As long as the food tastes ok I am happy doing this. Also I visit the local fruit shop every week for our fruit and veg which usually somes to approx £10.MFIT T2 Challenge - No 46

I would consider not Lidl or Aldi- i tried their food when i was a student. After that experience i vowed to always have enough money to buy good, quality food- so now i hope at Sainsburys and M&S, and occasionally Waitrose.0
