Hi TattyG,
There is indeed a thread that should help and give you lots of ideas:
Packed Lunches for School
I'll add your thread to that one later on to keep the suggestions together.

Sorry to bump but I am looking for the same. My local school has put up the price of school dinners and it will now cost us £84 per month for both kids to have school dinners. I get no help or benefits other than child benefit and cannot afford this any longer. I usually make up a sanwich, drink, apple, yoghurt and biscuit but this can get a bit "samey". Glad of ideas.0

I'm going out on a limb here.
How about going mad with some cold curry, a pitta bread and a disposable spoon?
At least it's different.0 -
DS1 is off today with hot curry, rice, chapatti and steamed broccoli - but then his school allows hot food to be brought in.
Are your kids allowed hot foods or just cold.

Not too sure on that MG - I will ask when they go back tomorrow.

I contacted my school yesterday to check on if I could send my kids in with a flask of soup and was told I couldn't due to Health and Safety. Madness, what can I do if it is cold outside? If it is such a health risk then why do the children eat hot food in school with their school dinners?0

Getting back into the lunch routine is killing me! My boys leave for school at 7.30 am so I really need to be organised enough to sort it out the night before otherwise it makes for a disasterous morning for everyone. I'm not the sweetest natured in the morning.
Today mine had chicken wraps. Tomorrow one has leftover pasta bake (he's sixth form so has access to a microwave in the sixth form centre) the other has chicken and ham fried rice that took me a couple of minutes to whip up as we had leftover rice from dinner. He prefers it cold which is just as well as he has no means to heat it up and keeping rice warm isn't a great idea.
Thursday will be hm sausage rolls and Friday will be wraps again. Am I the only one missing the school holidays when they said they were hungry and I could just make a suggestion or grab somethng quickly from the fridge?
