Fridy 21/11/08 what small dfw things have you done today??

:D When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:D

Today I will:
  • check online banking
  • make a loaf in breadmaker
  • swim and jacuzzi to use gym membership
  • storecupboard lunch
  • cook tea for oldies at work and eat for free
  • try and hve a no spend day
  • make some flapjacks in remoska
Good morning everyone, hope you are all well - (((hugs))) to anyone feeling low.
Thank goodness it's Friday:j :j , been a busy week. Bought 4kg of bananas last night in asda for 40p so off to make a smoothie for breakfast:D
Ctch up with you all later.
Reduce,re-use, recycle.

    Morning SophiesMum,

Here's my money-saving "To Do" for today:
    • I've just checked my online bank as well (according to HSBC I'm a super-heavy Internet Bank user).
    • We're not having a takeaway tonight!! There's one last jar of pasta sauce in the cupboard ahead of the "big shop" tomorrow.
    • It's casual Friday at work and I found a lovely hoodie I bought in the Debenhams Megaday a couple of years ago. It's inspired me to rotate the wardrobe tomorrow. Refresh all the old jumpers so I'm not tempted by all the desparate sales on at the moment.
    • I've also made my lunch, mushroom pate on a granary french loaf! Yum!
Please continue to hold the line. Your call is very important to us and will be answered by next available robot...

    Good morning all,

I hope we are all well and enjoying life.
An upside to all this is having to make the most of what I have.

Yesterday I sold my last shares. Hopefully the money will not take long to come.
I canclled my charity donation :-(
I contact the company social club to and left a message to cancel my subscription.

    Today:
I converted my Lightspeed Panel points (1725) into Paypal cash (£15). It will take a few days to appear on my Paypal account and then I can move to it my bank account.
I moved my Paypal balan (£18) to my account (minus 25p fee). It will take a few days to show up.
Checked rooms on Gumtree, our deadline for moving is Dec 5th. Im concerned (!) I will not have enough to pay deposit & rent in advance on new flat!
I will call the company social club to cancel my subscription.
I will go to the gym and get the form to cancel my membership - it cannot be done over the phone - why do they make these things so difficult!

    Andy

I was very excited today at getting one of the better on-line opinion surveys through. But the first question was about smoking, so I was immediately screened out :p I sometimes wished I did smoke, because giving up would be such an immediate and dramatic saving :rotfl: I'll just have to pootle on with these small DFW steps, which fortunately are becoming ingrained :o
When we ARE DF, do you think we'll keep on with surveys & on-line Bingo & piggy clicks? I'm sure I'll carry on being frugal, but the surveys ARE GOING!

    So today I have/will
    • been screened out of surveys
    • joined Qype, I believe I joined in time to register for the Amazon voucher (now withdrawn), but I didn't do any reviews until last night.........
    • charge phone at work
    • investigate Dart Tag in order to avoid the 50% RISE   in the cost of crossing via the Dartford tunnel everytime I visit my aged P's.
    • drive in a miserly manner tonight down to Kent to see the aged P's, and enjoy their hospitality in return for taking them shopping & little DIY tasks :D
    • start another spending diary. Somehow glossy mags and other tat is finding its way into my shopping.
I'm glad it's Friday, I hope you all have a good one :D
  • I'm off to my Mum's tonight and for the football tomorrow so will be fed and watered for a day! The downside is that I'll have a 140 mile round trip to get there but with petrol at 90.9p it's much cheaper than it was a few months back;
    Will dosome comps before heading off;
    Will pick up my free can of relentless from Tesco;
And I'll be winning the lottery this weekend which will help.
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

Woohoo Fay!!!:j:j Number two slot no less..... take a bow...

Poor KT losing a day, I've done this, it's very frustrating. Although the worst one is when you think it's Tuesday and it's actually Monday! :rotfl:

Olive Oyl - I don't know whether I'll do the clicks when I'm debt free, I don't always remember now. I certainly agree with you that many of the frugal habits are becoming ingrained into daily life. I'll never think of a credit card as free money again...

All dressed up today, date tonight  Will be DFW as he's paying ;) In honour of the thread I am wearing red tights!!

Will only have the usual on the list, but I may copy and paste from andan's list later :rotfl:
    • forgot breakfast, but there are doughnuts here at work - life is hard when you have to have a doughnut for breakfast :D
    • bought in lunch
    • made loaf overnight
    • checked bank
    • update spreadsheet - don't need to, I haven't spent anything as I have no money!
