Hi,
This is unsolicitated goods as you cancelled the order and usually, you have to wait 6 months and if no contact, its yours to keep. As they have contacted you, then this still may or may not apply. If they do not contact you again for over 6 months, you could deny that they ever contacted you in the 1st place and that you never received a slip through the door. If they do contact you. Tell them you work all over the country 6 days a week and the only time you will be in for them to arrange collection will be Sunday after 10pm (they have to arrange collection mutually convenient but to you with costing you money or losing money if you had to finish work early). If they then says that your in now, state that you have your phone diverted. As this will most probably cost just just as much as the supplier cost of the item to arrange a Sunday late collection, they may agree for you to keep it. You never know. But if they do agree to collect at such a late time on a Sunday, then you will have to let them collect. At least you will have the satisfaction of knowing it cost them a bomb to collect it from you. If you refuse and they still want it back and you don't give it to them, then they are within there rights to pass the debt to a debt collector, even without going to court. But again you do not have to pay a debt colector and they have no legal rights over you. They then can go to court and get a court order, which again is difficult as it was a free item and you never agreed to a price. They have to prove you owe a specific amount. You then defend yourself by stating they never arranged a mutually convenient time to collect!
Hope this helps!
WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP ADVICE
As clearly they have contacted the Op this does not fall under the unsolicitated goods act which you harp on about.
its people like the op and people like yourselves who encourage others to shirk their responsibilites inreturniing this that ARE not theres and that they have not paid for, which cause companies to either write off debts continually thus enevitable cause them to go into administration etc0 -

Seems like your jealous to me
It's been 2 months now - with no further contact from them. They have been pretty lasy with no further contact apart from one phone call left on a mobile.
I wonder if this is a wider loophole for Items that come with free gifts? Has anyone else had any other experiences?Mortgage as Sept 2012: £96,000

They will get a hold of you eventually, but the legal route (which they are most likely now pursuing) can take weeks to organise. There is still a huge likelihood that you will be hearing from their solicitors regarding this. By having been so pigheaded, you now face an actual bill for the item rather than having the option of returning it.
Am I jealous? No not really, I have a top of the range Blu-Ray player, a model that I doubt you could ever afford (nor I for that matter), and I got it for free via the legal method of a competition win, so I laugh at the budget range model that you have stolen, and I don't have the eventual legal problem that you are facing. We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0 -

I haven't stolen anything! They delivered it for free and that is that.
If they called me up tomorrow and asked for it back - I would return it! It's the case I haven't actually spoken to them (with them not giving a contact number to call them back after a message was left on a mobile) and arranging a time to pick it up when they knew I would be in work!!
A blue-ray player is a blue-ray player. There's not much difference between the budget and top range models. Enjoy it! I haven't really used mine as i'm not too bothered, it's the OH that loves it!Mortgage as Sept 2012: £96,000

What A pile of dung. If they were going to go down the legal route, 1. leaving a voice mail on a mobile without leaving a contact number isnt getting in touch to arrange collection, especially as in 2 months they haven't bothered to call back. 2. If they go down the legal route, then it is the supplier who has to prove they have tried to make collection (not just 1 voice msg with no call back). 3. It is not stolen if it is a free item that the supplier hasn't bothered to arrange collection (the onus is on the supplier to arrange not the consumer).
Its big electrical companies own fault if they make a loss as not having there logistics correct in the first place and if they go bust then hard luck, they have been ripping the UK consumer off for decades, washing there hands of our rights, conning us into buying un-nessacery warranties, only trying to sell you the most expensive item when you go instore with your specifications, telling you you need the most expensive cables to get better picture and sound when its utter !!!!. Look around the rest of Europe and the USA, they overcharge us for everything here compared to there, even after you take the cost of living into consideration. I say good luck to any one who can get a freebie out of them, even if it does take a bit of manipulating the truth.if i had known then what i know now0 -
UPDATE
Still no contact from the initial contact in November. Fair to say it's mine now and have built up a BluRay collection
