LOL! He's a musician in his spare time and has been creating an album for the last couple of years. he says he's gonna commit suicide if he can't get hold of his music...
Once again thank you all you lovely people for your replies...please dont go very far as i will need you.
i'l go to the link that you guys have sent me now(support at microsoft website) and and get him to follow the recommendations. I will let you know the outcome.Respond to every call that excites your spirit.0 -
Please, oh please, when this is all sorted out, tell him about backup. Any sort is better than none! Copy all the music files to a USB Flash drive, and then onto your computer on a very regular basis, for example... (That's two sorts!). :grouphug:

Good advice there by John!! Even onto a CD as he'll no doubt have a CD writer!
Can he get a command prompt up on his PC?Treat others as you would like to be treated :A0 -

Im trying to go through the following instructions but i'm bit stuck:
Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE, and then click Task Manager.
2. On the File menu, click New Task (Run).
3. Type cmd.exe, and then press ENTER.
4. If necessary, change to the %SystemRoot% folder.
5. Rename the Shdocvw.dll file by typing ren shdocvw.dll shdocvw.old.
6. Restart the computer.
We get as far as 3 and after pressing ENTER, he gets c:/WINNT/system32/cmd.exe
its in the applications and this is what's running. Behind the task manager is a command prompt screen with the same title.Respond to every call that excites your spirit.0 -
