Own food banned on Ryanair: is this for real?

Holly i am diabetic, and yes they do beleive you, most don't know anything about it other than it involves food and insulin, so you can get away with just about anything (and i have) even in a hospital. I keep a spare insulin vial in each case, that way if one goes missing i can claim there is medication in it.0

My 2 minatures in the plastic bag.
Sorry, but I can't believe you were allowed to take those on board when the seals are clearly broken and the whiskey bottle obviously doesn't contain whiskey!“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
:rotfl::rotfl:A favourite excuse with people caught eating things they shouldn't "I am diabetic"..not saying anyone will believe you,but i have heard it said in certain circumstances..
Actually a diabetic could probably eat some of the Ryan air items (although it is probably safer to carry food you are familiar with), I on the other hand as a coeliac cannot as every single product they sell contains gluten.
Therefore if it was a long flight I would need to provide my own food, or else go hungry. I do a lot of air travel and always carry back up food and have never yet been stopped. On ryan air I usually eat 'safe' crisps, for long haul I carry sushi or gluten free cakes, biscuits and sometimes even crackers and pate. Every time I go through secuirty I expect to be stopped, but so far all is well. I even took some on board immediately after the last terror threat when we were all using plastic bags to carry hand luggage.
I also carry injections and although I have never yet been stopped with them although for the past few journeys I have started putting them in the hold if I have hold bags as I don't really need them that often.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. well i did, this was the only liquids that i took, and placed them in my plastic bag.
if you look carefully behind you can see, the words security control
i've never been stopped before, and the last time i had 6 minatures in a bag, all in mixed bottles, and the guy on security laughed with us, at our minatures.0 -

The seal does not have to be intact to take them through security. If the bottle holds less than 100ml each, that's fine, even if it's not whiskey in it.
I too am a diabetic, and I would like to see them try and stop me taking my 'emergency food' on board.
Having flown lots with Ryanair, I can confirm this rumour is untrue.0 -
Soolin I always carry the injectables i need in myhand luggage, I always carry a letter from the doc but i've never been asked for it. There is nothing on ryanair that i could'nt eat(although i had a breakfast on a qatar flight that that was impossible to eat), the reason no airline would bring this rule in is becouse of combinations of allergys.0

This just prompted me to recheck my travel tickets for next month as I am going long haul to the Caribbean, and yep, no mention of gluten free food. Luckily the private travel agency I use are marvellous and had it all sorted out for me in minutes.
I do hate gluten free airline food though, even paying ooodles of money for an upgrade makes no difference to my food. BA just keep giving me little boxes of raisins every time they serve hot muffins or scones to every one else..it's very sad.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Not to mention the 1L GLASS bottles of gin we bought in duty free!:mad:0 -
Flew ryan air end oct- no problems with own food either direction.
We even managed to land and get into austria without noticing that only half the bag of sainsburys apples were eaten - we "imported" them by accident:o0
