Browntoa - you mentioned you have seen this problem on other websites - are you able to post a couple of links here for us to take a look?0

can't remember off hand but a temporary fix was to use system restore to roll back to the 29th December and not do the live update

Just to let you know that I downloaded a virus update from Symantec a few minutes ago and it has solved my email problems.

Math - it did not work for me I'm afraid. Have now gone to live update twice this morning and it is telling me I am up to date. I then went to my mail and tried "send/receive" without disabling Norton and it is still sticking badly. In fact, I still cannot send e-mail - it just goes to the outbox and stays there, even when I have disabled the Norton.
Will still wait a while to see what happens regarding updates, but thanks for letting us know.0 -
LoobeyLou - sorry to hear you're still having probs. I'm no techie so I can't offer you any assitance.
All I can tell you is that my email would not send/receive following an update a couple of days ago. Liveupdate gave me a virus update this morning and my email will now send/receive as normal. I'm on Norton 2006 if that helps.
Hope you get working again soon because I know how frustrating it is!
By the way, I had a look at Symantec website and there were some suggestions there about resetting the firewall and a few other options. It may be worth trying them but if any of the techies on here say don't do it, then follow their advice - they know their stuff.Life's a beach! Hi all,
Hi Loobeylou,
Sorry I couldn't get back to you sooner.
The short answer to your question is 'no''
I did a Norton update either last night or the night before, which seems to have fixed the problem. everything is back to normal.
I hope that you are also back to normal. (that doesn't sound quite right does it?)
