A Kent drama teacher has been ousted from her job following revelations that she has worked as a volunteer for the British National Party.
Emma Chamberlain, drama co-ordinator for the Astor Theatre in Deal near Dover, has been informed by the venue that her contract will not be renewed. The move comes shortly after local press reports showed Chamberlain fronting the political party’s online television service BNPtv and interviewing leading party members including Mark Collett, the former chairman of the BNP’s youth wing.
The organisation’s decision to remove Chamberlain from her position comes despite insistences from management at the venue that her political beliefs had not affected her work and widespread praise for the level of results she has achieved. The theatre’s website reports a 100% pass rate in London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art accredited examinations for children in her classes, which involve youngsters aged up to 14

Every police force in the UK was tonight scouring the leaked British National party membership list for names of serving officers, after the Merseyside force confirmed it was investigating one officer's links to the far-right party.
The Prison Service pledged to oust any employee on the list and far-right supporters spoke of fear for their livelihoods as the BNP was plunged into crisis.

Scotland Yard, Surrey and West Yorkshire police also confirmed that they were studying the list, and the Association of Chief Police Officers said it expected every other force to follow suit.

A detective inspector serving in the professional standards department of a Midlands force, who was checking the list against his force personnel records, said: "Even people on the list who are lapsed members of the BNP, or who have just approached the party expressing an interest in joining, will be of interest to us."

This thread isn't OT, the premise was that in the current repressive political climate, what will be the effect on house prices of having a member of the BNP living next door. I mean will it be worse than EEs, chavs or carnies coming into the Avenue?

the BNP are taking advantage of the human right legislation that they oppose :D

The law applies equally to all, irrespective of whether they agree with it[STRIKE] or are racist idiots.[/STRIKE] This means we are bound by the burden laws to which we may not agree, but equally, we are all entitled to the benefit of those same laws. It would be unfair to say to a person: "You are bound by the obligations under this law", but then say, "You may not take the benefit from any law that you oppose"

    Today's BNP "dirty dozen" are:

    1. Tony Lecomber, prominent in the BNP hierarchy, served three years in jail for a nail bomb plot. He got another three years in 1991 for stabbing a Jewish teacher and has 12 convictions in all.
    2. Kevin Scott, BNP organiser in the North East, has convictions for assault and threatening behaviour.
    3. Paul Harris, 41, BNP council candidate in Barnsley was convicted of using threatening behaviour towards a pensioner.
    4. Jason Douglas, one of the BNP's leading candidates in the Greater London local elections, is a convicted football hooligan.
    5. Warren Bennett, the BNP's chief steward, is also a convicted football hooligan.
    6. Stephen Belshaw, who stood for the BNP in Amber Valley, East Midlands, was convicted in 1994 of attacking a Jewish solicitor.
    7. Colin Smith, BNP South East London organiser. 17 convictions for burglary, theft, stealing cars, possession of drugs and assaulting a police officer.
    8. Darren Dobson, BNP council candidate in Oldham. Convicted of racially aggravated assault at Oldham magistrates in November 2001.
    9. Frank Forte, BNP member in Waltham Forest, convicted of Actual Bodily Harm in 1989.
    10. Paul Thompson, former BNP organiser for Durham and Darlington convicted of criminal damage after an attack on a book shop in Durham. Also convicted for violence after attacking football fans.
    11. Neil Keilty, BNP member, whose convictions since 1987 include criminal damage, possession of an offensive weapon and threatening behaviour.
    12. Gary Mitchell former Sunderland BNP secretary, convicted of racist attacks and possession of offensive weaponry.
Looks like they need to clean up their act then doesn't it. At the end of the day it is (at present) a free country.
I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

they......they have done this to their own people in their own country..history shows us what fascists are capable of doing..belson ring a bell and then for decades until it became law THEY denied it ever happened.. oh what fun it would be if they ever got power

I don't agree with it being illegal to question a period of history, that is just playing into the hands of the far right (and the show trials eg Irving), something like Hitler burning the books.

This is GOOD news, what's your problem?

Somebody doing a good job who has their employers abuse illegally leaked data to find out that they privately joined the BNP ending up unemployment is not good news.

People are entitled to join the BNP for whatever reason they feel fit, it doesn't mean they spend their time throwing bricks through Asian neighbours' windows.

Many of the BNP's policies are actually popular:

A majority of people back the British National Party's policies, according to a poll released today.
But the YouGov survey found that many people disown the policies once they are associated with the BNP.
It found that 59 per cent of people supported a halt to all further immigration to the UK - one of the BNP's main pledges - when they were not told of the far-right group's association with the policy.
Among those who were told that it was a BNP commitment, support for the policy was only 48 per cent.
And 52 per cent of those who took part in the survey agreed that all immigrants should be denied the right to bring further members of their family into this country. But when told it was a BNP policy, support fell by 9 per cent.
Overall there was 55 per cent support for BNP policies until people were informed of the party's stance, when backing dropped to 49 per cent.
More than a third of people, 37 per cent, said they would seriously consider voting for the BNP's policies in an election. But identifying the BNP with the policies caused support to fall by 17 per cent.

I know that there are violent thugs and criminals in the BNP, but there are violent Labour and Conservative thugs too.

It is not illegal to hold any of the views that the BNP have, so why should people be witch-hunted for holding them. Hardline policies on things like immigration are currently being adopted by the Labour party. I got married when I was 19 and my (foreign) wife 20, and under new Labour government rules it would be illegal for her to come here until she was 21. Is that a BNP policy? No, it's a Labour one.

There is absolutely no reason why you shouldn't be in a party that says 'no to all immigration'. It's up to each individual. The BNP undoubtedly has members that actively hate other races, but then so does the Labour party. The 'BNP Ballerina' was married to a Cuban !!!!!!.

I don't know what the official BNP policy list is, but as far as I am aware there's nothing in it that says 'If you are a fireman you should let non-whites burn'.

So what exactly is supposed to be the problem?

I wish the intolerant scum that try to hound people out of their jobs because of their private opinions when they have never done anything that conflicts with it as a result of those opinions would clarify what the problem is.

I don't know but I would suggest to you that it probably wasn't a black one.
