Party is our turn this year so here's what I've bought:

    Red & White Wine £5.68
    Large Steak Pie £17
The trimmings to go with it £6
    Beer £6
    Whisky £27
    Baileys £18 (for 2 bottles!)
    Dessert £3
    Finger Food £11
    Mixers £8.50

Then of course there is the whole day cleaning today for everyone to come tidy and ruin it so I just repeat it all again tomorrow!

Still - Only is my turn every 6 years (this is our first) so I'm not gonna complain!
Treat others as you would like to be treated :A
  • Can not make up our minds what to do. I think we have settled on a nice bottle or two of fizzy champagne and something nice to eat from our store cupboard/freezer and a DVD.

Thought about an evening out but with everyone having too much to drink I can't work up any enthusiasm. Also to get into our local we would have to pay £8 to include a buffet we can't eat (dieting) and listen to a disco that will be too loud for my hearing impaired OH. Also he may do the DAD dance!!!!

Nobody is perfect - not even me.
  • Working tonight, no choice but saves me money I suppose ;)
Any fool can criticize, condemn, and complain - and most fools do.
  • I will be spending... £0 :money:

I was supposed to be working tonight, but swapped shifts at the last minute, therefore made no plans to go out; and I am working tomorrow, so no booze for me. Cheapest New Year ever!

(EDIT) and in reply to the going out/staying in debate - some of my best New Years Eves have been spent at home with just one other person ;) and some of my worst New Years Eves have involved going out. It's what you make of it!
  • Have to sort my mortgage and fees out start of next month so I've decided to stay in.Still find NYE a bit strange, why people get so excited by it all.Theyre jumping up and down screaming with huge grins like theyve won the lottery. Xmas eve is usually much more fun.

We stayed in this New Years Eve, I really do think staying in is nicer. I make more of a fuss about Christmas, can't see what the fuss is about with NYE. We watched a movie and only realised the clock had struck midnight when we heard all the fireworks going off. We have a kiss, say 'Happy New Year' to each other and that's how we enjoy it. I used to go out and get stuck in all the madness, spend a fortune and end up drunk-as-a-skunk....I stopped that when one day I woke up on someone's sofa in a strange house and couldn't even remember how I got there! :p ( I was single then lol) I opened my eyes, looked around and saw bodies everywhere, the snoring was horrendous and we all looked ill.....a New Years Eve at a student gaff almost finished me off LOL

    Quiet New Years Eve's now....

Haha!! I hope you had a good evening Ember.

I was in last night, alone. But I had a nice night. I did spend money yesterday, bought myself two books (which I'll sell on ebay when finished), rented 2 dvd's and bought 3 magazines, so I was a happy bunny last night. Didnt even buy junk food or alcohol as im on a new found healthkick, so not hungover today and was surpised I wasnt the only person in the gym at 10am this morning!!

Oh yes, the ceiling was leaking with water from upstairs bathroom, so the Landlord had to come round at 10:30pm!! Oh well :0)

This should be a good year. Its nice to know I am going into 2006 WITH savings, and that I will be in Oz this time next year (although I am still undecided as to when I'm exactly going, but definately want to be there next Christmas/New Year.. So if this one was slightly boring, I can live with it.

    Happy New Year everyone.

    xx

We spent nothing. Went to some friends who cooked a curry, which was lovely, took some wine we bought in france last year and had a good time.

Today took the kids to feed the ducks and went to a brewers fayre for a coffee and a free play for the kids, then went to blockbuster and hired a free DVD (Mcdonalds offer) all in all a cheap yet very enjoyable new year
