I'm mega impressed!! I wish someone had taught me how to save at that age! I actually said to my mum last night, that no-one had ever taught me how to handle money, and she says "well it's not really something you can learn!" - hhhhhmmmm - I beg to differ!! Not that that's enough obviously, it's totally my own doing that I got myself in a bit of a mess, but I just wish I'd been pointed in the right direction once or twice!
I was in an accident with the car a few years ago (nothing major, just whiplash from it), but I got compensation of £5.5k - and what did I do with it?! - What most other 19 YO's with no experience of money would - I spent it!! But hey, you can't change the past!
Sounds as though you had an amazing time! My only grumble is that I have to wait 'til July to go!
And you never know, if your daughter keeps saving at the rate she is - she might just have enough for you both to go!!
I'm hoping to go back and do a post grad in Teacher Training! I'll need to get studying over the next couple of weekends though to make sure I'm prepared for it! I'm not quite sure what I'll do with myself if I don't get in - don't really fancy staying in my current job for much longer than I have to - but I suppose there are worse things I could be doing!
Good luck with your course - and well done on passing the first year! It can't be easy on top of working and looking after your DD!!

Well - today turned out better than expected!! I thought I'd have to break my NSD to buy something tartan for going to the guides tonight, but managed to borrow some instead - so that's an NSD saved and takes my grand total to 14 for the month!! Only 2 more to go!! :j
I've also managed to stick to my diet all day and managed an extra length in the pool than what I'd planned!
Also - my order arrived from halfcost today and I'm delighted!! - Thanks again for the suggestion mum2one!!

thats what compensation is to be used......... ok, pre mse days....... I had car accident 1998, tho didnt settle to 2001, so booked to go to Kenya and Goa in 2002, but unfortunately the little blue stick went positive, so ended up in Cyprus, Tunisa twice and Turkey.
Accident 2, 2000, that settled quickly, that pd for Mexico in 2001.
Then sued my lovely ex employer, that took 3 yrs to go thro, they pd in 2005, so I went to Dom Rep, Cyprus, Gambia, and Tunisa, yook dd to Devon 10wks throughout the yr. It was a toss up of clear debts and have nought left, or pay loan 2k, and have a bloody gd time, so guess which won!!
Car accident last yr, - 2 weeks converted barn, (had to do the family think, and pd half off a trip to Cuba next yr!! xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Hope you have a gd night xxCrap_with_money.com wrote: »Well - today turned out better than expected!! well..... it's another quite day in the land of Laura!!

I'm working today (with an extended lunch break to go into the school again for a bit more shadowing!), but have no motivation really! I think I may well have the most boring job on the planet!!
I'm having lunch from home (diet still going well) - and I'll be going to the gym again tonight - so all in all, it's shaping up to be NSD 15/16! So almost there!! Just not sure when I'll fit the next one in - it's OH's weekend off this week (He's in the police, so only gets 2 in 5 off) - which usually means we make the effort to go out and do something - even if it is just the cinema or grabbing some cheap food somewhere! - I might speak to him though and see if he'd mind a wee Friday night in, and save going out 'til Saturday!
Although - since he's (temporarily) joined my fitness kick with me - he might be tempted to spend Friday night in the gym! I have a step class at 5.30 - but I might try convince him to meet me in the pool afterwards to squeeze in a wee swim as well!! And that would have the added bonus of clocking up another NSD for me, as well as help towards my wannabe beach bod!!
Other than that, I'm on the hunt for an artists easel for my niece to go along with the paint box thing I got her - but they're not looking too cheap!
I also need to remember and do something this afternoon that I never, ever do! Take a dress back!! My mum bought me a lovely velour(ish) purple dress from Zara a few weeks ago, it's been washed once and has gone into loads of tiny wee holes around one of the arms - it wasn't very expensive, but since I like it, I need to make the effort to take it back and (hopefully) get a replacement! A little nervous since it's not something I'm used to doing - but hey - you don't ask, you don't get!!
Anyways - Over and out (for now!!)

There was some good DFW news after all!! I was off ill last week for 2 days, and since my work are a little on the stingy side - I don't get paid for it!
I was a bit concerned about how tight it was likely to be this month when I'd be minus 2 days pay - HOWEVER - I got my wage slip through and it looks as though I missed the cut off - so I'll still have a full wage! Which means I should be hunky dory for sorting out the rest of my chrimbo pressies!!
I'll still lose the money obviously - but the fact it's a month later makes it easier with the way I have my finances planned!!

Good morning, good morning!!!
I had a slip last night, and didn't make it swimming as I'd planned! But I feel on top of the world this morning as a result of the rest and decent sleep last night!!
Today will definitely be a spend day since I'm out for dinner with the girls tonight! I did a bit of research (using my newly-honed DFW skills), and managed to find a wee deal for 3 courses (well I say courses, it's a Tapas bar, so it's 3 Tapas), and a drink all for £9.95!
All going well, I should end my month tonight, and still actually have money (of my own - not the banks!!) - sitting in my account! It'll only be £23.57 - but still - that's the first since 1999 - so that's a pretty big achievement in my books! :T

That sounds a brilliant deal with the Tapas and drink, you need a break from the deft free front, have a great night out xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0

Thanks mum2one! How's life with you these days? You anything new to report? Or any more fabulous holidays booked!
Can't wait for tonight - it's gotten harder and harder to get all the girls in the one place at the one time this year, so it'll be good to have a giggle and a chat with them! Plus - it'll be nice to choose a meal based on what I want to eat rather than what fits with my diet!

Know that feeling trying to get everyone together as soon as it hits the end of Nov, everyone has a brilliant social life.
No more holidays booked, just got to pay the rest of Cuba, dd wants to go to Tunisa to ride a camel, so looks like Cuba will be my last "single" holiday.
Very exicted, got my tickets throu for the Orient Express, only a day trip but my best mate coming with me, got a 5hr trip, inc 4 course xmas lunch, wine and champers. That was very moneysaving, used Sainsburys nectar points and got 1/3rd knocked off the price, the rest been pd by cashback, surveys, so we havent had to pay a penny........12 days to go. xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0
