It is tough NOW. So how are we coping

That daft young man needs to do an SoA and work out who he can pay what, and sharpish before his friends get nasty.
Fuel for a motorcycle can not cost him his EMA and all of his part-time wages a week. Something else is going on and I'm not sure I like the sound of this at all. Full disclosure and total honesty is what is required now. I'd be tempted to take away all access to his bank account and dole out the minimum required for his transport fuel costs and that's it until all of the debts are cleared.0 -

That link is for car racing kidcat - moto gp is motorbike racing. bloody expensive to go to too. Thankfully we are not going this year because bump is expected but the moto gp site is sold out completely of tickets for the race and other sites are charging about £150 for two day tickets.
anguk - I hope you get him sorted out - I think you need to sit him down and have a stern word with him. Its not fair that you need to bail him out when hes having financial difficulties when it sounds as though he earns more than enough to look after himself.Time to find me again0 -
Thank you for your comments - we had a good talk and he swears its bits for his bike and petrol. Anyway hes fessed up to his friend and theyve agree he will help him paint his Dads garage and they will call it quits - but because he gets paid every 4 weeks (not on the same day each month) it turns out his phone company is charging £10 a day every day he doesnt pay so some months he had a week over before he got paid and then had to pay an extra £50/60 so thats why hes constantly skint - so I've paid this month and he will keep this months wages so he is a month in advance so at least he shouldnt be overcharged for his phone (fingers crossed!) and I showed him my budget and what was exactly in my bank account and I think its opened his eyes a bit and I've told his girlfriend that we are sorting out a budget and that hes got to save for a month - shes happy with that as shes saving up for a car too so hopefully things will get better!2010 has got to be better than the last two years!! :rotfl:

Hi elizabunny:) I loved Nella Last's War and also watched it twice on t.v I really liked her so much and I sensed she was lonely in her marriage and getting out to work in the shop was so good for her and helped her confidence. Lovely.Do a little kindness every day.;)0

Well - seeing that - I guess you've seen that film on YouTube of "Money as Debt" - ie the 47 minute one there?
My second thought - since you are one of the people who has recognized how bad the financial situation is - have you found the Transition Towns Movement? We would quite agree - but think that we can all get through this and come out the other side to a better society than we currently have (hence "Transition"). Maybe you have already come across this though (as I see you mention "digging a Victory Garden"?). "First see about the food and everything else will be so much easier" (ie transport, health care, economics, etc).
Yes, I had seen Money as Debt. Thank you for the other. I had not heard of the Transition Towns. I am reading about that now.0 -

Am I pleased that Monday is done and out of the way ! :T
Its always a bit fraught at work - the busiest day with fewest possible staff in so trying to do two jobs at once most of the day...never mind...its over for another week.
Just polished off the Sunday leftovers for our tea and sat mulling over who is going to get up first to start the dishes. No great money saving deeds or savings today but at least I haven't spent anythingHave been a bit careless on the shopping front over the last few weeks - too busy for anything other than a quick dash round Sainsbods and a sprint through Aldi
Having to do it at 6pm when I leave work has meant that all the bargains are long gone - even Aldi's super 6's !
Must try harder as have insurance to pay next month and my hoover is limping along, getting more tempermental with each use ...I've had it 15 years so it looks like it may be time to shell out for a replacement at long last....:heartpuls The best things in life aren't things :heartpuls
