  • Hi everyone,

Thanks for all the hugs and words of support, its much appreciated:)

I have a GP appointment Wednesday morning, after that who knows?

dh has been job hunting today, we are positive he will get something. If not, then i suppose things will remain as they are for now until i either get better and go back to my job with head held high (the head held high bit is gonna be the most difficult) or choose to leave.

Either way i hope things work out so much, i think its about time we got a break, we haven't had many over the last few years with one thing and another!

Slow and steady - if your GP signs you off as unfit for work - will you be fit to take up a new position? Many employers make offers conditional on occupational health and references. You need to check this prior to resigning.

    Thanks Spirit,

the new position are aware of my health problems, i previously worked for them last year after being off sick, when i did PT work after being allowed back to work. They are very understanding and i would be taking a position with less responsibility. Obviously if the GP decided its better i am off altogether then i will take their advice this time and not make the same mistake, and cross that bridge when i come to it.
Gosh, what a pain, i dont really want to be off work full stop, for a long time if avoidable, i just want to be better. In fact it hadn't occured to me that perhaps i might not be well enough to go back to any job whatsoever for a while, if i take notice properly of GP, even PT for a few hours. Its just never been an issue-ive worked since i left school, and this last twelve months has been the first time ive really had any time off, so to not be allowed back anywhere is just something that hadnt occured to me, and is quite a scary thought..

I have been busy sowing the seeds of Frugality in the garden recently to feed us this summer, so am still catching up with posts on here. Big sympathy to everybody going through a difficult time at the moment. The hills do seem that much steeper to climb when trouble of one sort or another visits you. I'm sure that once the General Election is over, whoever wins, another tide of austerity will visit us all.. All we can do is pull up the drawbridge and rely on our resources to get us through. I'm just angry that the bankers and the politicians have got us into this state in the first place. I suspect that some of us on here would have made a better job of it ourselves!.

To be honest, I doubt a four year-old could have done a worse job of it. Strangely, none of the bankers or politicians seem to be tightening their own belts but perhaps some of them (I hope) will be living in the real world with the rest of us after the election. My own particular belt has been tightened so much the pips are squeaking, so the inevitable New Austerity measures planned for after the election don't bear thinking about.

Yeah our belts have tightened considerably as well because just after the elections I start maternity leave so god only knows what they will decide to award me every two weeks so I'm trying to get back in the swing of making bread by hand, baking etc as I know it will only save a little bit but at least I know I can make them at home so when i need them its there.

Am considering planting some salad leaves as well for boyfriend to have in his sandwiches - my garden is very shaded and a small communal garden that is destroyed by neighbouring kids/visitors on a regular basis so I'm thinking a pot of salad leaves will be ok - kept inside on a window ledge.

Also everything I have for bump is coming to me second hand - bar her steriliser and bottles which were brought as a gift so that is saving some money for us too but I can really see us struggling once the election is over. Partners work is already cutting peoples hours as they simply don't have the work there to keep them all on.
    Time to find me again

:)Payday has arrived at last! All bills paid and a little bit left over to put to one side to save for the road tax next month.

Not bought any clothes for a long time so treated myself with some new-to-me clothes from the Hospice Shop - a pretty M&S blouse for £2 and a cotton jumper for £2.49.

The rhubarb in the garden has grown so much in the recent showers that its lifted the forcing bucket up off the ground - looking forward o turning some into rhubarb crumble later today.

Potatoes are just showing first leaves too, so it will be fab getting those dug in a few months time.

Living the frugal lifestyle makes me appreciate small pleasures - I feel that have finally turned the corner on 'living in the past' and hankering after the lfetyle that we used to have when we both were high-earning high-spenders.

Have a good Bank Holiday weekend everyone :)

I too am wary about the future, after seeing the measures being put in place in Greece this week I can only wonder what our new government will try. I think us MSE'ers should be exempt as we all have tiny carbon footprints and do everything we can to take the pressure off resources of all kinds.

Our house is now chaos with a new grandson installed here. he is a total pennypincher from day one. My Dd has become the Robin Hood of baby equipement and formed a group of Mums and Mums to be that swop everything you could need. The only thing bought was the pram system. Even half used bags of nappies have been passed round. I am very proud of her.

Hubby and I are struggling at the moment, we miscalculated somewhere along the line so things are very tight , but the freezers are full and the bills paid and the veg garden is starting off well. The problem is the more hubby worries the worse his health is so having the new baby here till Dd and partner find a house helps keep him going.

Just popping back to catch up and am once again in awe of the strong (mainly women) posters who share their lives with us here.

Reading about the struggles of some of you, one thing stands out. Babies may cost money but they bring joy and a purpose in life to the rest of the family. Keep on coping!
