So sorry for people left with no means of money at start of long weekend but if it's any consolation when I had a card cloned they just isolated those transactions and paid them back really quickly. That was Natwest and I have to say that as banks go they are quite good. I had to wait for a new card but they let me transfer money into another account I had with them where I could get cash out so it wasn't too much of a problem.
This would only work if you do have more than one account but you could try asking them to do that even if your other account is with a different bank - for example Halifax transfers only take two hours before they appear in the other account.
Hope it all get sorted soonIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!...at least I think that its Easter . . . . in Town and Mr T's today, you'd have been forgiven for thinking that it was Christmas ... or has a major food shortage just been announced ?? ....and don't get me started on how the greedy supermarkets have hiked the prices up, especially for fruit and veg. I love (not) the way that Tesco 'dresses up' their prices  . If you stay in store long enough, you almost start to become convinced that they are doing you a big favour by allowing you to buy stuff at such stupendous "bargain" prices . . . . . what con-artists their marketing people are!! The 'Specially Selected' tag line on products baffles and infuriates me in equal measure - do they really think that I will believe that they specially select each individual apple, carrot etc especially for me? Sorry for the rant! I am going to stop going to Mr T's, its not good for my blood pressureI only went today as I had some money off vouchers from clubcard points accrued at the petrol station.
Weather has been a bit of a mixed bag but the ground has been dug over and the seed potatoes will be going in tomorrow - just need the weather to turn a tad warmer to bring them on now.Going to spend the rest of the evening working on my Rocky Horror outfit - I am going to see the show on the 12th April with a group of friends and we are going the whole hog and getting geared up. Need to make a pair of spats, a bowtie and a cummerbund and customise an old pair of shoes tonight as I am going as an unconveniental conventionist...already have a black swallow-tailed coat & evening shirt (which i have home dyed purple) from the local charity shop - just need to get a pair of black leggings to complete the emsemble and I'll be Time Warping with the best of them :rotfl:Really pleased with the Wash'n'Save Balls - everything is coming out spotless with less than half the usual powder - the next step is to go from Sainsburys Own Brand to their Basics Wash Powder to see if they work as well with that

Careful with those leggings Charlies-Aunt! Birds of our age have a tendency to look like Max Wall in them. Hint: only birds of mine and Charlies-Aunt's age will know who Max Wall was.0

Being of a tightwad I'm re-using old costumes that have been stored in the loft since about 1995 . Only a couple still fit - its a choice between the leggings . . . .or a green operating gown with stockings and suspenders peeking out from underneath . . . . either way its going to be more HORROR than Rocky! :rotfl:

Living the OS life can sometimes bring unique challenges :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Yesterday was a very productive day for me, I finally got myself in order and went out to the garden. After a whole load of scrubbing I got loads of pots cleaned and I have started my veg growing for the year. It is cheaper than the gym and gives us some extra food. Hoping to get a bit more done today although the pouring rain is not really encouraging me to go outdoors :rotfl:
My DD is truly an OS child as she said to my mum last week "When we have no money dad just picks something out the garden and mum cooks it" Now doesn't that make you think of the good life!
Also been tidying the house and clearing out loads of clutterthrough ebay, amazon, freecycle and the local charity shop. Not only is the house starting to look better but I am making a few pennies (selling) and getting lots of brownie points (charity).
Another positive is we have purchased a dishwasher (due tues). Now this is I agree a luxury purchase however it will greatly increase the harmony in the house and will encourage more cooking from scratch so it is also practical ( at least that is how I am justifying it)
Well I have outdone myself today with my post and now need a cup of coffee! Hope you all have a lovely Easter, I will check in again later as this thread really perks up my day!:EasterBunTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Hi All
Well thought I'd pop in and show my face - had a very hectic weekend and not in a good way - went on my shift yesterday and someone decided to petrol bomb a shop across the road from us - not nice but thankfully no one was hurt in the incident!
Also I did find my lost purse - it was however found 4 doors down from the shop I left it in and minus my £40  but at least all my cards and ID were still in there so I am thankful for that and I have my PayPal card which has £40 on it so we are ok for now even if the little sods did take my cash! Going to buy a new purse when Im paid on the 13th and get one of those stretchy things that means I can clip it to my belt loop I think.
Apart from that not a lot going on here - boys had a good Easter - not too many eggs thank goodness but they seem happy with what they had so that's what matters. Little Miss is wriggling about nicely too - Im 7 months on Thursday - woohoo!and I'm trying to think of cost effective / free things I can do with Ben to keep him occupied in the holidays!
So far we have
*build a den together to play in
*story days (so lots of biscuits/hot chocolate and us cuddled up on the sofa together
*sink or swim - hes learning about what sinks and swims so might use the bath tub and some random objects to have some fun with
*baking
* painting - got a cheap paint set last year so will let him do that
*salt dough crafting - might make some salt dough and get a head start on some birthday / Xmas decorations with him
*duck day - yes i live in Wales so this is regularly - but wellies on and out for a paddle!
*outings
* we have a soft play place in town so might try there - £2.50
for as long as he likes
* grandmas house - that's pretty self explanitory
* cinema - might make this a day out and see my sister and
niece in the process
*margam - a local country park with kids village, climbing play
area, small farm yard and birds of prey etc and free to get in
so just bus fare needed
hopefully that should keep him fairly occupied but we will see. Hope you are all well and having a nice long weekend. Its pretty cold here today but should be good fun.Time to find me again0 -
sammy - glad you got your purse back even if the little s*d did take your cash. sounds like Ben will be having lots of fun during the holidays!:)Do what you love :happyhear0

I know fingers crossed I can keep him amused though because a bored 5 year old is trying at the best of times let alone when your 7 months pregnant and hoping they will keep him mentally stimulated because its not like we can go playing football or off on long walks/bike rides like i had hoped! Fingers crossed we might manage some in the summer holidays though when little miss has arrived and if the weather is nice enough.
although any other ideas for things to do will be greatly appreciated too!Time to find me again0
