Kidcat, put some bottled water/other fluids in too, incase of emergencies and some of that old carpet might be handy for under wheels if you get stuck in snow. Spare hats/jumpers etc are in mine too. You're lucky managing to get rock salt, none anywhere here. Yes good idea with sledge as they are going walkies here. I must remember to put the other shovel away too.

My partner has gone to work tonight, I wish he had not as I'd prefer to be skint than him getting stuck/having an accident but he's worried about money too. I've told him not to go daft.
One day I might be more organised...........

Well I just managed to get to work all work (followed a snow plough one day:eek:) My very old car of 32 yrs, yes I did say 32yrs, has done me proud and luckly as I grew up on a farm, driving in snow was normal so I know a few tricks to keep me going;) No show= No pay so I have to go in everyday come rain, shine or snow..

Unfortunatley things have been a bit slack where I work and on Weds I was told my hours are to be reduced until thing pckup. There are three of us whom work in the shop but as I only work part-time I'm going to loose 4 hrs per work which I can just about cope with but the other ladies are losing 10hrs each. We've had to jiggle our hours around abit and Iam really grateful to the others whom know I can only work around the school day ( daughter is 'extra special' ) Have explained to my eldest we'll have to tighten our belts yet again but with the Ex not forthcoming its going to be close to the knuckle.

Lil_me - am planning on putting drinks in when we leave Monday but thought they would freeze if I packed them too early. The rock salt my dad got before Christmas case of being in right place etc.

Icemaiden - good on you having kept your car going that long, our small car is 16 now and I have had it since new, I will be devastated if he ever ceases cos hes like a member of the family.
Its awful losing work hours at moment hopefully its only very short lived and you get them back soon.

We have here before us Mardatha - "victim of a deprived childhood". Mardatha earnestly informed me that she was kept on "short rations" of sweeties as a child and is still making up for lost time.

All contributions gratefully received - I'll now pass round the hat...:D

I could send you my daughter with her stash of chocolate Mardatha, in fact I would pay you to have her for a week - one bored 6 month pregnant house bound daughter up for grabs! Don't all rush at once - no she is not remotely hormonal or craving stupid things. Like we had just turned off the main road into a skid when she wanted MacDonalds - 'NOW' But Im sure if youve been snowed in she would be an endless source of fun. Im lying really I couldn't afford the train fair
