I am regressing
to my new age past. I am sitting here listening to a cd called medicine woman by Medwyn Goodall and am being transported to a different level, somewhere above and away from, all the uk/world troubles. My mind is floating blissfully and it is lovely
and no Mardatha, I am not on anything. This music is wonderfully relaxing and uplifting0 -
I do the same meself often pet ! With meditation tapes

Hello everyone
Well, I feel I'm slowly immersing myself into MSE now. I was always interested/dabbled but now? Well I feel like I've come into my own. After reading/watching/odd posting I'm getting into my stride.
For the first time ever I've joined the Grocery Challenge. What a revelation!! Fab people with fab ideas. I've even tried my hand at meal planning. Well, not online but on a piece of paper blue tacked to my manky kitchen wall. Husband's even buying into it now that I've taken the thinking out of it and told him EXACTLY what we're eating. It's magic!
I've had leftovers for lunch every single day this week and even DS has had leftover pasta 2 days.
Things continue to get tough for so many around the country and I'm grateful to be allowed to "choose" to do this.Grocery Challenge M: £450/£425.08 A: £400/£.May -£400/£361 June £380/£230 (pages 18 & 27 explain)0 -
I have fallen off the meal planning bus and finding it terribly difficult to think of what to eat each day. Its not helped by the fact that no matter what I cook its met with some complaints from someone. Its definitely a case of pleasing some of the people etc...
Have decided to sit down on Monday and plan at least two weeks worth of meals because I am so bored trying to be creative every day.0 -
I'm posting this so late (or early) as I hope it will give someone a bit of inspiration
I last posted on this thread in Dec about how my son was made redundant as an apprentice mechanic at Audi. He's been at home all this time & unable to claim any benefits due to having parents at home to support him
Anyway, a local garage has advertised for a mechanic & interviewed him this morning. He has now been told he's got the job:j To say we are pleased is an understatement.
I'm posting this in the hope that other's won't give up & continue to hunt & apply for work, as in this instance it payed off. :j
Good luck Westy xNow thanks to Tommix & Queen Bear, now Lady Westy of Woodpecker0 -
Morning all.
Cant help get but the image of the wanderer returns in my head. lol
Well im jumping back on the MSE bus - haven't really been on it just slacking i think lately. Have decided today to maake a list fo freezer/cupboard contents etc as was snooping through freezer and found diced beef (when did i buy that?) so need to have a good rummage although my freezer is a a tiny box freezer on top of the frige so should take me all of 2 minutes to do - then cupboards then meal planning.
Also sammy kaye is now half a stone lighter thanks to rosemary conley - although this was money saving too - i was talking to a friend whos mother in law does the class and mentioned that the organiser/instructor didnt have a cashier for the new group she was starting in our village, so I asked for her number to confirm i was going and had a nice chat with her, she asked me if id attend regularly and i said yes as it was around my job, 'oh really what do you do?' - oh im just a cashier  then she mentioned she needed a cashier for that night - its one night a week on a monday and if i paid the one off £10 membership fee and wanted to do the job i could have all the information, weigh ins and exercise classes for free. :j bargainplus i had a leaflet so had free membership anyway! so now i have some form of social life now and am meeting new people in the village- love it!
We were informed yesterday that our rent is goign up as well as our water (rent from £215 a month to £225.28 and water from £32.26 to £37.40 - council flat) which is a big jump and as boyfriends hours have gone from 30 to 40 hours we are losing £100 in tax credits a month. so really need to stretch everything and anything i can.
Son has packed lunches 4 days a week, dinners once a week and sunday he goes to his nans with his father whilst i work so they have roast dinner and pudding there. Boyfriend has packed lunches 6 days a week and then Sunday dinner at his mums. and step son is here form saturday afternoon till Sunday lunchtime , off to nans with bf and son so not too bad - ill sit and work out meal plans around this obviously later but need to get my bum back in to bread making by hand again as rolls are costing me a fortune for boyfriends lunch!
right back to finish post in a bit - off to school run adn got to post leaflets for my instructor.
x x x x SK x x x x xTime to find me again0 -

welcome back Sammy :j
kidcat don`t shoulder the whole cooking burden yourself. Give anyone, who is old enough, a meal to prepare and make, on a budget. I used to do that and ok we got hot hot curry everytime our ds cooked but they can all cook now. Just be prepared for a bombsite kitchen
also ironing, as soon as I got a ft job I divided the ironing into 5 piles and everyone did their own. Ds only ever did the front of his shirts but lol they never took their blazers off anyway
The worse thing is getting rid of the ingrained mummy guilt of being a domestic superstar. Just look on it as training for them, which it is0 -

Have decided to sit down on Monday and plan at least two weeks worth of meals because I am so bored trying to be creative every day...all of your post [just had a vision of Dave-in-a-Mc-Call-box & her mum's grey hair ] except m'be the part about planning for the next two weeks
Three adult offspring & me living here, & as from last w/e only my first-born is employed. No2 & I have been 'medically' resigned although our industries have had other redundancies so perhaps we would have been for the high jump this time around anyways. One saving grace is we are on whatever passes for Incap Ben these days so don't yet have to face signing on & all it entails.
I have NO idea how central government departments can workWe live in a reasonably sized town with a JobCentre. A few years back, sick notes used to go to the next town west of us, then our local would use internal mail but no longer. Now they go next division east....I was over there scouting out a b'day prezzie so said I'd take No2's cert in. Picture this OK. A hooooog building with lots of little desks & things in the reception area; a rather pleasant lady came up almost straight away so we[mum & I] didn't have to wait any longer than it took for a quick scan of where we might need to go.......
Me:...."I've brought in my baby's certificate" handing it over.
Her:..."Oh. You need to post it. We're not allowed to accept them here anymore. I'll give you an envelope."
Me:...."Oh. Sorry, didn't know about the change. Where do they go now then?" just to be chatty.
Her:..."It goes into the central post room*. Can you write the benefit you're claiming on the certificate please, as it will help get it to the right desk?" hands me a pen.
Me:...."Shall I put it on the envelope too?" trying to be helpful.
Her:.."No, that's ok. They have to open them anyway."
I took the envelope & asked for a few more [cuz it looks like No2 is in for a lengthy spell visiting various medical buildings in different locations _pale_] & left the building. Folded up the sick note, put it in the envelope & clocked the address--*you're thinking like a major county-wide collecting office right?...the self same bluddin building I'd just been in  :wall: Considering they are pre-paid envelopes, don't you think it would have made more sense to save the postage!!!!!!!

I think I have changed into a different gear. No tv at all last night, just sweet new age music and a bit of reading. Lovely and I could feel my brain winding down
Today, got lunch ready (our main meal) and have cut out 8 table mats and a cover for my breadmaker. The covers are easy if you gather the round bits to join. I already made covers for my kenwood and my ice cream maker. They do look nice and the`re the same LA material as my hm kitchen french door curtains. I do find that a doing a bit here and a bit there gets it all done eventually
smarmy rich, slimy divorced buisness owning, 45 year old male neighbour caused a very very stressful situation re low grade music all night penetrating into our bedroom. Been going on for a month now. However I think I am managing to turn this around, bedroom has been silent for 2 nights so maybe he has got the message.
My dh was getting really dreadful stress re not sleeping so here are my remedies: no tv from 10. A special Indian raga cd on from 10. Warm milk with oats and banana at 9.30. 20 drops of passiflora mother tincture at 10.30. No reading in bed. Result is that the sleeping pattern is being re-formed
I am just waiting for an under pillow speaker to arrive so he can use a
different raga cd in the hours after 1 am if he wakes
In the process I feel as though I am getting back to how I used to be ie calm, laid back, new age type, healing woman. I like it0
