Hi all, over here too we have snow today. Looks as if the local primary schoolchildren are all in school, not sure about the college though as I have seen older children walking about here and throwing snowballs:) It had been very very cold for so long and we thought we would not have any snow but it is still falling now. My husband was stuck in traffic for 20 minutes this morning with a large tailback. Staying in myself and keeping warm. Enjoying reading all the posts, in the community we have on this site. A brilliant site and it cheers me up to be in touch with others too. Such lovely posts from some and great tips and advice too. Keep warm everyone and stay positive too.xxDo a little kindness every day.;)0

As Sybil would say, housewifery has appeared here, I've reorganised my larder cupboard, done washing & ironing, blitzed the kitchen & cleaned up the marmalade spills, the 7 jars are all labeled & sat on the worksurface cooling. I'm now trying to decide whether or not to make some cakes for work tomorrow. If school is closed again they will be wasted as hubby & I don't eat cake, decisions decisions.
I hope Halight is ok, no post from him today, or have I missed it.

Had a nice crunchy walk into town today and scared one of our elderly neighbours as I strode around a corner, but she was too small to see over the top of the hedge!
Snow is melting here but one advantage of having an OS 'pantry' is that we had enough cooking salt to make sure our path wasn't slippy whilst it was freezing.
Sitting in front of a glowing stove at the moment, trying to avoid doing something about tea.0 -
I have absolutely loved the change of emphasis on the news. I loved the photos of happy, playing families, birds on bird tables, it was so cheerful for once
I think now I have had enough of snow and slush, we should as a country be getting back to normal.0 -
No getting back to normal here, twice as much snow as yesterday and they are running out of grit for the roads so it's even worse0

Yup, I'm off work (self-employed so losing money) and DD is off school. It's been snowing at least steadily and at worst heavily since about 8.30. DD's main concern is whether we'll be able to get to her best friend's birthday party tomorrow!
DH has stopped knocking my food mountain, as we have been well fed throughout, and could be pretty well snowed in for a fortnight and still eat well I think.
I cooked up the 2 Tesco turkey legs last night and stripped them. £1.29 each and I've got enough meat off them to do 4 meals for the 3 of us and made soup besides. Nasty job stripping them, but pretty good value. I can feel a turkey curry coming up this weekend.0 -
Well done to you 2cats1kid. That's great value you have got from the two turkey legs. I do hope your little daughter is able to get to her best friend's birthday party tomorrow. Bless them when they are young and have no worries except things like that and so it should be too.. We too have stocked up and it is a good thing to be able to do it, as you never know...... I always have a contented feeling when we have our heat and food all in and the bills paid and a little savings put by. I feel so much for those who are strugglingDo a little kindness every day.;)0

Thanks, Margaret! The bf's mum has phoned to say they are postponing till next Saturday. Trouble is, they postponed and *then* realised they didn't have everyone's number to phone and tell them!
DD and I between us managed to supply the missing phone numbers - heck I feel organised now!!! Normally it's me that does things like that!

Well -what a week:snow_laug. Hope everyone is warm and well. DH tried to get into work this morning -thinking we'd had the worst of it -huge mistake. He had been there for about an hour when the blizzards started again and he decided he'd better try and get back home. A long time later, he thankfully appeared. DS1 was planning to visit us with his OH, but no sooner had they left their village, than they had to turn around and go back home again. They then spent the next hour or so helping to dig a lorry out of the snow outside their cottage (very narrow main road, with no pavement on their side and walls of the cottage right on the main road -so a bit dodgy in icy conditions).
Oh well, everyone's still smiling.
Have to agree with 'kittie' though, I can't stand it when it goes all slushy. Having said that, I think there's little danger of this happening at the moment, judging by the temperatures being forcasted. So I hope everyone is managing well with their stock cupboards -although, I think we'll be replacing some of our stocks soon.
I think the weather has been a diversion for us all this week. Although I did notice Mr Peston getting a bit of a quizzing earlier in the week about his reporting of certain events. However, the threat of redundancy is still a very real fear for many of us and unfortunately my BIL was amongst one of those last weekend, receiving the bad news.
However, on the whole I must admit I've quite enjoyed this last week even though we've had nearly a foot of snow:eek:Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin
