It is tough NOW. So how are we coping

Just wanted to say that I carried our mini coal shovel in my car yesterday. It's only about a foot long but quite sharp and came in very handy for getting some compacted snow out from under the wheels when my car was slipping. That's apart from the walking boots, jeans, jumper, waterproofs and spare petrol.
Perhaps I'll need the spare petrol when I run out from carrying all this extra stuff around with me.
Keep safe0 -
oh poor jane goody, she is in the middle of such a torrid time. She is on tv now, poor poor thing. She is only 27 too. It would be nice if we osers could send her some communal energy to help her live through this and to give her peace0

We have woken up to more snow and it is still snowing - shocking for this area - we never get snow! School yesterday had to close the playground (though school was open) - it (and all pavements around here) were a sheet of ice so I did understand but throughout the snow, they have let the children out to play and encouraged snowmen/snowfights etc (with a "safe" area for those who didn't want to get covered in snow!).
I really feel for Jade Goody too0 -
We are closed today by order of the LA!!! We have let the kids out to play in it and make snow men, half of them have been sent to school without hats, scarves, gloves or wellies tho', it would be much better if they had 'em, maybe their parents think we wont let 'em out...but we do!Go hopefully into each new day, enjoy something from every day no matter how small, you never know when it will be your last0

My kids have never seen much snow either, my youngest two (4 &2) have never seen snow at all till this week. They loved it, its back a little today and they are so excited, and I am inclined to say that as we only get snow very occassionally, maybe we should let schools close and let the kids kick back and enjoy the snow and being kids for a little bit.
My 4YO is off school sick again today, having been ill last week and passing it to his 2YO sister, she obligingly has now given it back! So they have been out and "made footprints" outside till my nose could stnad no more. Just hoping a bit more falls before the eldest two get home and that they can all go out and make a snow man.0 -
Afternoon all -hope eveyone is well. Another interest rate cut today -good for some -not so good for others.
Heaps of snow here today, transport in and out of our little village virtually at a standstill. All a bit surreal really as we haven't had so much snow for a long time. The dogs are terribly excited by it all, bouncing around everywhere. Had them out walking at 7am and it was so strange, so quiet, but people everywhere just wandering down the middle of the road trying to determine whether it was even worth bothering trying to move their cars. In the main, most of those that did try to move out, soon came back again as the exits from the village mean negotiating steep hills. It's funny how suddenly complete strangers will stop you and chat -a bit of the spirit of the old days.
Anyway, as they are forecasting yet more snow, I'm so glad of our stock cupboard -no worries about bread etc. either. Hope everyone is warm and not slipping about too much.Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin

We don't have snow but it's so cold and frosty. My hubby who works 30 miles away has just rang and said it's been snowing realy heavily for the past hour.I suppose by the end of today we'll have some too.
I just can't believe how this winter has reverted to what winter should be instead of the the damp, mild and miserable ones we've had for such a long time.
You just can't beat a cold and frosty morning and the joys of keeping warm during winter. So much more healthier for you too.0 -

I was saying this only yesterday. I think the last few years have been so mild that alot of bugs and viruses havent been killed off, hopefully this cold spell will see off alot of bugs and germs. Maybe it means we will get a proper summer too.0
