Mummysaver, eggs are useful for lunches - today DD had eggbread - dip bread in seasoned, beaten egg and "fry" in non-stick pan - with salad and I had two boiled eggs with a pitta dipped in. Omlettes are good too

You can still get free yeast from Mr A's bakery dept. This tip was posted sometime last year and I forgot all about it, until I needed a bit the other week. I went to the instore bakery and asked very nicely if they still gave fresh yeast. The lady was lovely and promptly gave me a little packet of yeast. Am sure they also do this in Mr T's as well. They may not always have/do this but it is always worth asking
Thank you nannaC, I shop in Asda but didn't know about this...I'll ask (politely) next week and hopefully be lucky enough to get some

also made a bookmark each from this site

Made 8 big bars of soap from old bits and free bars from hotels.
Made 7 jars of marmalade.

Hi folks - just a quickie - was in Sainsbugs earlier, their basic teabags (Fairtrade) 80 x 35p were going through the till at 28p, (so I went back and stocked up).
Don't know if this is a glitch in our local store or everywhere.
Kidcat - hope little one is ok now and you are feeling less stressed
Hi Gracie - nice to meet you - this is a great place for hints and tips !When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on

It's getting even tougher here, lol.
Hubby finished work on Friday & no sign of anymore, the 2 jobs that were meant to follow on have both been cancelled. I used my Sainsbury's £50 b'day vouched for this months shopping, so only spent £6, I still need to go to the butchers for meat, but that should only be £10ish.
I have a pack of Tesco's finest chipolatas in the fridge, hubby had one this morning with bacon, egg, toms & toast & will have the same tomorrow, that leaves 10 chipolatas left, 5 will make sausage & mash, the other 5 will be cut in half and along with 2 rashers of bacon also cut in half, some mushrooms & toms, will make a large toad in the hole, enough to serve 3 or 4 on the night DS visits.
Hugs Hester

Never buy basic beans as branston are always going on offer for £1 for 4 tins somerfield last week. Morrisons where going them for 75p per pack of 4 a week or so ago.
Husband gets no choice gets what is on offer. But if really hated them I would not buy them again. I am not that mean :rotfl:

I got some 75p ones in Morrisons yesterday. For some strange reason they keep selling out of them !! They are fine by the way better than the value ones which are loads of juice and about 6 beans in a tin !!
I've also noticed the the lentil and washing soda shelves are often empty, previously these places gathered dust as they sold so few!! Anything to do with this forum I wonder ???

it could well be! I'm intrigued by the stats on the OS forum, for every poster there must be thousands of lurkers - this thread for instance has 1902 posts, but 138,152 views
so welcome all you lurkers but please join in, we'd like to hear from you!... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Every poster (or lurker) who revisits the thread will notch up another "view", so it doesn't mean there are thousands of them trying to pluck up courage to join in!
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe
