Hi everyone - I'm one of those that has been lurking on this thread a little while now. has taken ages to get up to date. Finally got there. Have picked up loads of tips and recipies, so a big thank you to everyone.
I too have noticed that the value brand in Mr T seems to be slowly disappearing.0 -

Maybe not thousands, but probably quite a few. It's so nice when someone new joins in with their different 'take' on things and their new ideas. I'm so glad I stopped just watching the forum -things have changed quite a bit for me over the last few months and I feel that I've had alot of support from the forum and made new virtual friends as well.
By the way just as a point of interest, I nipped into MrL today and the Caster Sugar was 89p for 1 kg. I then went into MrS and a 1kg bag was £1.38:eek: can this be right?Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin

Hi guys, no good with the words of wisdow, i just tend to pinch all your lovely ideas! However i went to a discount food store the other day and bought lots of things that were on offer in order to stock up my food cupboard.
Bought mainly stuff that was on special offer and it was part of a mystery shop so i got some free food anyway. However, am pleased to say i now have a developing store cupboard. I now just need to start working on making food from scratch, which will certainly be a learning curve.
Sorry for those who are finding it a struggle at the moment.:j Live on £4500, £2531/£4500:T 101 in 1001 (52/101):j:beer::j

There seems to be a wide variety of prices these days, more worth shopping around than ever. Last week loose sprouts in Sainsbury were £1.58 per kilo, and in Asda were only £1.28. I suppose we should be grateful there is competition out there, but it's a bit of a bind having to remember where the best prices are for the things you need.
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

it could well be! I'm intrigued by the stats on the OS forum, for every poster there must be thousands of lurkers - this thread for instance has 1902 posts, but 138,152 views
so welcome all you lurkers but please join in, we'd like to hear from you!
I post and view (lurk!) on lots of the forums and where I think I can contribute, will comment/submit new threads or posts. So much of what I read is useful and informative. Lurking, according to the dictionary, tends to mean concealment but in this environment, I see it as making ourselves aware/informative. If people have already provided excellent information/answers, there's no need to join in. I love this site for these reasons.0 -

My local Asda must think we have short memories. They increased the price of the Smartprice bolognaise by 10p a jar and then put a shiny sticker next to them saying they were their "lowest price ever".
They have also increased the price of their Tiger cat biscuits by 26p. It seems that everytime I get to grips with the budgeting they find some more ways of making it harder.0 -

What I hate is when they hike up the price for a while then reduce it and claim they are rolling back the price.
If they had only been rolling back the prices all these years, and not putting them back up when they think we aren't looking, they'd be paying us to take the stuff off the shelves by now!
Each time a supermarket advert comes on the TV claim it has reduced the price of something I think "Yes, but you can only reduce the price because you were charging too much for it in the first place".0 -

yes, obviously, I do realise that, but I'm not sure any of us visit often enough to notch up nearly 140,000 views and I didn't actually say there are thousands of people out there too scared to join in... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Applepie, I don't think anyone minds that some people choose just to read threads and not join in but as elizabunny says, its good to have new ideas and a fresh take on things; sometimes its a bit daunting to join in on what seems like an established 'group' but I've never know a newbie not to be welcomed on old style... don't throw the string away. You always need string!
