Free showersmart energy saving gadget(merged)

  • I was wondering if this device is any good for showers which are reliant on hot water from a storage tank. The flow of water is pretty good but due to the pressure issue our showers tend to be either really hot or really cold depending on how high up you hold the showerhead/hose.... :(

I have just fitted a free eaga showersmart which I got from http://www.eaga.com/showersmart/ . It took me 10 seconds to do it and according to the blurb this should result in-
    • The eaga ShowerSmart is suitable for all non-electric showers and regulates the flow rate of a shower to 7.8 litres per minute – the equivalent of a powerful electric shower
    • For mains-pressure showers (where hot water comes from a combi-boiler or similar), this saves both water and the associated energy with heating hot water.
    • For a 2-person household, the eaga ShowerSmart will typically save more than 12,000 litres per year*, cut carbon emissions by 1 tonne* of CO2 over its lifetime and save about £20* on gas and £20* on water bills (where metered) per year.
    • For the average family, this would equate to savings of about £30 off their gas bills and over £30 off their water bills (where metered) per year.
I read about it on this site (somewhere) and ordered one a few weeks ago, it was free so what harm can it do, I didn't realise at the time it could help save £20 a year off my gas bill. A few more pennies saved.

I could send you a bit of paper that says you could save £1 million pounds a year on your gas bill - would you believe that as well...

How can something that slows the flow rate make it like a powerful electric shower that has a pump in it that speeds up the flow rate!

    What utter tripe!

You have got to be one sandwich short of a picnic to fall for this one

You may as well shove a peice of cloth inside the pipe and jam it up with crap, this is effectively the same as what this does
