:xmassmile Just a reminder - these are not suitable for electrically operated showers, only those that come off the mixer taps
  • Hi I have a electric shower AND teenagers and wondered if there anything suitable like the above 'gadget' so I too can start saving. thanks
  • Thanks for this - have just ordered mine today.

  • Got mine a few days ago, not got round to fitting it yet though. We already have a hippo in our toilet cistern which is pretty good, as poor students saving money on bills is just what we need! :)

  • got mine fitted it regulates the hot water temp as it was too hot before but maybe its to efficient as excess water was only a bit over the bag test it comes with.
  • How does it fit on to your shower? I live in a rented property so I can't go messing about with the shower too much!

its not too much messing - you just unscrew the shower shower hose from where it joins the taps screw on the small metal widget and washers and put the hose back onto the widget - no more effort than replacing a light bulb so i am sure your landlord wont object.

i recieved mine the other day but have not installed it yet as my shower hose has seen better days and i need a new one so will do it all at once.

    WARNING !
Useless crap that just slows the flow rate - you actually want a good flow rate with most showers, particularly power showers - DONT BE CONNED - this can actually damage some showers.

With cisterns in a tiolet 6 litres (used to be 9 litres in older ones) is ample to flush, so hippo's could be useful here. But dual flush tiolets do the same.

But in a shower, you dont want to reduce the flow rate. You sometimes have to ty to INCREASE the flow rate to get some showers to work, not DECREASE it!!!
