On a sadder note, an old man was trying to buy a couple of bits in Boots, but couldn't find his wallet. SA said it had probably been stolen, which seemed really sad. He couldn't pay for his stuff but a man stepped in and bought it for him and gave him his bus fare home (which was really kind). Have worried about that poor man all afternoon and wish I had helped him out a bit more, but had little son and baby with me and didn't get my act together. Feel bad now
Don't feel too bad. Someone did help him so he was OK, and I hate to say it, but it's a very old con for someone to say their money was lost/stolen and need their lunch bought and money to get home, that sort of thing. I don't know that this old man was doing that, but it is one of the oldest scams in the book.
And elderly people run this scam too, and it tugs at people's heartstrings more so they are more likely to open their purse. I've read about it many times, and also had an elderly woman try to pull a scam when I worked in a store in my teens -- she claimed she gave me a 20 and that I had shorted her on change, when I knew she hadn't because I never stuck money in the till until after I gave a customer her change -- but she made the claim the second I put the money away and shut the till. She loudly went on about being a poor old woman and how she had just come from the bank and all she had was 20s -- it rang out as very rehearsed. The manager came and shut down my till and cashed it out right then (or whatever we called it when he totaled up how much was supposed to be in there and how much was actually in there), and it came out even. She went on and on, so he counted it all again, and it was still even. After she left, he said that's an old con trick. I've grown pretty skeptical over the years. I typically will help strangers if there's a way that doesn't involve giving money, like giving a bus pass to a guy with a story about no way to get home.0 -
Does anyone have one of the above and does it actually do anything other than fluttering a bit of water here and there? Got one for my Mom today, she always has aches and pains in her legs and feet, so I thought it would be a good treat.
Box made it sound like it was all that and then some. Put water in and switched it on. Mom put her feet in and looked at me and said "Is this actually meant to be doing something?". LOL. Thought she was having a laugh, so I tried it too. Other than flinging a bit of water here and there, it seems useless. There is no vibrating action under the soles or where all the fancy holes and dips are.
I'm confused. Did I carry this stupid thing all the way from BOOTS for absolutely no reason? Should have got the cheap and nasty looking NO 7 one at a third of the cost of this !!!!!! one! Mimi is not impressed. *mega pout*
I had a foot spa years ago and it did nothing. They sound so wonderful in the descriptions, but they're pretty useless, lol. I think they're probably no better than just filling a little tub with hot water and foot soak (which actually doesn't do too much for me, either). I would take it back and say it doesn't work, as it literally doesn't do anything for your feet, lol.0 -

skibster, yes i agree, the world is so bad when you think like that, but unfortunately there are many scammers who works on people`s kind heart.
i hope this old man was genuine0 -

My jess said its true shes definatly ill lol, shes turned down a day out - whats the world coming to lol.
Sorry to hear you are so poorly nuttyp, hope you feel much better soon.
I know its not Bootsing, but Debenhams have extended their sale till tomorrow. They have Elizabeth Arden and Lancome GWPs on offer atm and you get 10% off cosmetics/beauty. Some of the EA foundations and lip glosses are half price and also EA have some sets which are good value. Might cheer you up a bit, even if you only look!
There are bound to be some codes on MSE somewhere for free delivery etc."Go placidly amid the noise and haste and remember what peace there may be in silence": Desiderata0 -

this really happend to me the other week in Boots and Asda .... had been to the bank and all they gave out the atm was £20 notes and went to Boots and the SA only gave me change of a £10 was about to put it in my purse when i remembered it was £20 ...by chance she didnt have a £10-00 in her till at the time .......happened again a few hrs later to in Asda ....SA said she had done it twice that day
but think it is hard to believe anyone who Claims to have lost their purse / wallet or got the wrong change .... or wether they are genuine0
