Hey all i'm taking a trip out to meadowhall tomorrow for the first time. Anything I should be looking out for? Obviously going to see if they have the razors and the s&g as mentioned above. Does anyone know if they have any of the limited edition no7 stuff? and is it a big boots? never been there before am well excited about going to a new one!
Its quite a large store, all on one floor, which tends to get very busy in afternoons, best go in morning if possible.
They had no7 stuff on Saturday.
The JK nail files that are with other nail stuff are marked at £3 but ones on JK display are still marked up £2, display was empty when I got mine, but told SA thats where I got mine from so she refunded me £2!

there were many many Wilkinson razors, so anyone can grab them.

but got vit c with a little free probiotic box
    multivitamins
    vitamins for my DD
    chesty cough syrup
    olay face wash
gave 2 pounds off coupon, but i wasnt sure if chesty cough syrup counts 3 for 2( vitamins and herbals)? and i had 1 pound off any Boots vit c, forgot about it :o

I got the ATM 100 points for the beechams powders and ended up with the beechams and the free probiotic for 80p. They arn't cheap in the 20 pack, so its nice to get some free.

Found 3 of the Botanics pamper sets at £1.84 each. Total £5.52, and £5 back in skincare voucher.:D

Got a few skincare blueys to use by Tuesday, but the store i visited had none of the cheaper items in. Anyone know if White Rose has any stock (i'm after Roc wipes and Olay regenerist wash).

WRT the vat reduction from tomorrow:

the tills will automatically honour the new rate of vat. This will happen either as a 'deal' or a 'rrp' scenario, where the till will show you the old price and the new lower price.

Some of you have already notice that some items are already ringing through the till at the new reduced rate (this happened early hours of saturday). Everything 'should' be going through at the new rate from tomorrow.

Remember that not everything attracts the full rate of vat. Some items are zero rated and some are reduced rate of 5%, these lines will not be reduced further.

The shelf edge labels will not be replaced until after christmas. There is a lot of work that need to be done to replace the affected sels, especially in a large store. This time can be spent better by serving/filling up/having tea breaks :D etc. There wll be vat ready reckoner barker cards on the shelf edges which will help to give you an idea of how much the product is going to be after the discount.

An easy way to work out how much you'll be saving is to take off 2.1p (2.1%) for every whole pound of the product (not 2.5p or 2.5%! (see explination below)). For example, a product costing £10 will be reduced by 21p making it £9.79.

Now here comes the maths. In these examples, monetry values are rounded to the nearest peeny, exactly as to what will happen in the shop.

Net price of product is £10

adding vat at old rate of 17.5% would add £1.75 to the product making it £11.75.
adding vat at the new rate of 15% would add £1.50 to the product making it £11.50. This is a difference of 25p (or 2.5%).

Now, take the net price + old vat rate of £11.75 mentioned above and minus 2.5% (what people assume the product is going to be discounted by), this would give a discount of 29p, making the product £11.45. This does not equate to the true price of £11.50.

Take the net price + old vat rate again (£11.75) and minus 2.1% (or 2.1p in the pound), and it gives a discount of 25p, making the product £11.50. This is the same as the net price (£10) plus the 15% vat (£1.50).

I hope I've explained it so most people can understand.

Advice welcomed please on a return of items bought on 342 xmas range. Bought 3 of the same (Elle bags) but want to return 2 for something else.

Do I have to return all 3?
    or
can I just return 2 of them for something of similar value in the 342 range?

I have never had to do a 342 return before, so if anyone has done something similar can you please help.

Silly impulse buy really because they were so nice, but just not needed.:o That'll teach me a lesson.:rotfl: :rotfl:

just to confirm AM's post earlier, yeah it should be fine. Just take the 2 back, no need for all 3. like AM said, if your ever returning anything to store from .com, take your email with you to show what price you paid. We can always ring up .com CS if you can't find it and find the price you paid. Obviously this will take longer but it's not the end of the world if you only have your delivery note.

If it was bought instore, just take it with your receipt for a straight swap. You will have to pay the difference if the products are higher in value though. It's best getting an idea of what you would like to swap it for so your aware of how much extra you might be paying.

  • Thanks clarence monkey for the info, you know I just might try again at Meadowhall , despite already asking 3 times if they had any s and g there , I somehow think they don't want to part with it . I have been to 4 stores trying to get some and had more or less thrown the towel in on geting some.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
I have a grumble about the bluey.

The board that display the advert about what you can get shows a picture of a product that is not included in the deal.

I had my vouchers to use up yesterday and as usual no Roc wipes, so trying to find something cheap to do with them was proving to be a problem. I then noticed the picture on the board of a skin range and found 2 products in the range - one was the same as the picture and also another in the range - £5.99 and £6.99. I asked at the till to try it - no luck, so I took her to see the display board and said it seems wrong to show a picture of a product on the big board that isnt inc - still no joy !

    Pedant alert!

Just to point out that the "cost price" in the example above should be called the "Net Price" (price excluding VAT). Cost price is the amount that the item cost to make.

Wish you worked in my local! :D

I've been told by some people that if you want to exchange 2 items from a "3 for 2" for 2 different items from the same deal you need to return all 3 items originally bought.

    Sheer stupidity - you're swapping 2 for 2.
