OS Daily Tues 18/11/08

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 18th of November. It is is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning. It's wet and horrible here this morning. It's also quiet. I am using the laptop which has no annoying loud fan.

Day off for me and I think we are going to Truro to try and get some of the Christmas shopping sorted. It would help if I knew what we wanted.

Did quite well with the Christmas booze already. I loaned my car to a friend to take to France for a booze cruise and as a thanks I have 24 bottles of wine and 2 of port. So who needs Laithwaites?

Well, hope you all have a good day and make a buck.

Cheers

Morning N9eav and all who follow. DH has just left for work so I'm catching a cuppa before I clear away the breakfast things and get ready for another fun-packed day at work!

Dinner tonight is a quick chicken curry and rice and something milder for DGD who is coming round after school for a knitting lesson. Should be fun!

Hope all are well and (((hugs))) for those in need. Haven't had time to catch up with the news but I have this afternoon and all day tomorrow off work so will have a bit more time.

  • Good Morning Chums,
its pretty murky still outside at the moment . I hate the winter when its so dark and damp. My old joints are giving me gyp this morning, feel like they're set in concrete at the moment .I have to get a bit of a wriggle on though, as one of my DGS is off on a school trip to Hertfordshire to see a temple. I said I would pick him up and take him to school early this morning as his Mum doesn't like him to use his bike when its still dark because of the traffic. I have put some braising steak in the SC already so that will be dinner tonight with some left over for the freezer. I have a machine load to go out on the line but I wonder if its worth it as its so damp and misty.
This morning I shall help my DD to take some rubbish to the tip as she is de-toxing her dining room. Its amazing what you find under the kids junk, we found a lovely book from her youngest sons first days at nursery that she though had been thrown when we were sorting yesterday, and its strange to see how much he has grown over the past 18 months.
This afternoon I have my craft class so its a sit-down afternoon which I will need by then I think. My eldest DGS 'do' went well on Saturday night and bless him he made a little speech to everyone thanking his Mum and Dad for taking such good care of him over the past 18 years.
Well time I wasn't here ,have a good one everyone and <<hugs>> to those who feel a bit blue , as my gransons tell me its only 37 more night-nights till Santa comes., help! I have only got half my pressies.
    Cheers JackieO

Twink - thank you so much for the news on PP.

lovely night last night. Met up with a dfriend that I haven't seen in a year or so and two other friends for a lovely pub meal. Called the dds on my way back to find them at other dd's - just as well i did as I had left my keys in my bike at work and was the teeniest bit squiffy.

Every time I think of something nice for dg's birthday at the weekend someone else nicks my idea so I'm going to take him to the Works and get loads of crafty stuff - and I'm keeping quiet about this idea

well must get on - have a good day all
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008
  • Good Morning All

Twink - glad to hear that PP is doing well, Thank you for doing the card.

Had a busy day in the office yesterday which wasnt fun. Need to do some more office work this morning, hopefully wont take as long.

When have finished will pop to the butchers for some bacon that I need and see if anything else catchs my fancy. Need to be careful though - popped to Morrisons yesterday for a couple of bits and spent £37 on virtually nothing - nearly everything was on offer too. OH was with me and he couldnt beleive it. Will definately be putting at least 1 non meat cheap food night in the menu plan from now on.

Making chocolate chip muffins and Twinks hobnobs this afternoon. Also I want to make some Onion Marmalade. I have found a couple of recipes but wondered if anyone on here had one they swear by? Also I want to give some as Xmas presents - how long will it keep in a jar?

Best get on, have a lovely day.

Stressedout - only briefly, I'm covering for the next three weeks for someone at my old place of work while they're on holiday - in the Dominican Republic, lucky thing!

    Morning!

Twink - thanks for letting us know about PP!:T

Am having the chip in my windscreen done this morning between 9 and 1. DS1 has got to go to the job centre for an appointment this morning so will have to give him a shout soon. He also emailed me with what he wants for christmas - an xbox at £200:eek: dont think he'll be getting it as thats my whole budget for him and DS2.
Got to plan my routine for Extend this afternoon, I hate doing them as it takes ages.
tonight its DS2s school graduation night. thankfully he seems to be settling in well at college.
Need to make some Queenie's jam crumblie this afternoon as DH has requested some.
Hope you all have a good day x
