    Hi Lottie,

We have another thread on this subject, so I'll merge yours with that one. As always the posts are in date order so you will have to read from the beginning to see all the replies.

QUORN! eugh! It is a type of fungus and is grown on egg protein, on eggs which I doubt very much are free range.
Quorn did not used to be marked as vegetarian by the Vegetarian Society because the eggs were not free range. They have plenty of recommendations for it on their website now so I think they must now use free range eggs.

Yep it's a type of fungus but so are mushrooms, mmmmmmmmmmushrooms ;)
I personally would have re-frozen it its not meat after all, but thats IMHO and not to be taken as hard fact ;)
I would freeze a meal that contained quorn once but not after freezing and reheating it once before. I'm blase about freezing things, but after being cooked twice I wouldn't really want to eat it any more!

    Just my opinion :)

My first go at batch cooking - may have made a mistake!

Just cooked 2 bags of frozen quorn mince as bolognese to freeze in portions, then spotted on the bag "do not refreeze if thawed". Forgive me if this is a silly question, but does that mean if just thawed out, or can you freeze it again if you have cooked it? Anyone done this and lived to tell the tale, or are we eating quorn for every meal for the next few days?!

    Hi!
It´s OK to re-freeze if cooked. Have done this many times, as my daughter is a vegetarian and I cook in batches for her to defrost and heat up meals when I am not at home.

Thank goodness for that I just thought of this as I made cottage pie with half and half and froze some of it.

Agreed. Think it means you can't stick back in the freezer once it has defrosted without cooking it first.

I do this all the time and I am still alive! Fear not.

Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.
