Tesco customer service told me, and I'm not the first on here to report it.

I too was told "This is an internet only account. But because of the problems we are experiencing with the card reader you can, on this occasion, do a telephone transaction".

Yet when I was speaking to the guy in the techy department who was trying to sort out the mess with the "new system" he told me I could make a telephone transaction

Right hand really doesn't know what the left hand is doing and I really think it depends who you speak to on the day

This was months ago, well before the offer of points when you open an account (missed that one then  ) but I have had the card reader for a while now and everything goes very smoothly. I am very very happy with this account.

A total nightmare. I'm very angry!

My experience opening this account has been relatively smooth and was very appreciative of the faster payments service as I am using the money here to drop feed my Halifax Regular Saver which I got at 10% (due to Martin's advise by the way). Unfortunately as I opened the Tesco Internet Saver at around the same time as the Halifax Regular Saver I missed out on the free clubcard points - ahh well, cant win them all! :P

The contact numbers cost 4p per minute and are slow to answer.

Did you try using the say no to 0870 website?

Tried to transfer in my just-refunded Icesave money today via Tesco's website. It will not allow me to select a date earlier than the 27th, i.e 6 days from today! I know there's the weekend but I'm sure my other accounts are more like 2-4 days for future tranfer-ins?

I assume you are trying to "pull in" the money to Tesco from another bank? What it is saying is that the DD will be requested on the 24th arriving in your Tesco account on the 27th. This is just the same as a BACS payment made now which is not likely to leave your current account until Monday unless you have faster Payments.

Best way is to transfer FROM your current account INTO Tesco. Depending on whether your current account allows Faster Payments, it will either arrive instantly or on Wednesday 26th/Thursday 27th.

If you have received your tesco card and pin and waiting for card reader, you can use your Natwest card reader (if you have one).

    or Vice versa!
All I ask is the chance to prove that money can't make me happy.

I've re-checked their website and when you try to make a transfer (via 'pull in') it states 'The transfer date refers to the date that the money will be taken from the other bank. Allow at least 3 business days for the money to reach your Tesco account. ' Which to me means it will be at least 9 business days for the money to clear in my Tesco account, which seems too long.

I do realise now, however, that I would have been better to have transfered the money from my Nationwide account instead, but with this being the first time I've used this account I was unfamiliar with the transfer-in set up. Some are 'pull in' only, which I thought was the case with Tesco.

The website will not let me cancel or even view the scheduled transfer either... All in all, not very impressed with this account.

I stand corrected if this is the case. I assumed it would work the same way as Icesave's pull-in did. However you may find it works differently in reality. When I transfer out of Tesco at the weekend it states that it cannot do it until the Monday. Yet when I have finished the transfer, lo and behold it has gone through immediately and arrived in my HBOS account within minutes.

    That's rather poor too.

I have no problem with this account but I have always transferred from my HBOS account into Tesco.

You're right! Icesave did get that bit correct, at least...

i am getting so fed up with this account and the card reader bussiness now, i ordered them on the 7th of this month, had the reader and the pin over a week ago, called them last weekend to see where the card was , was basically told to be patient, called today and have had someone apologise and say appears there may have been some error and he will order another new card for me (with another new pin) which could take another 7-10 days!

    Mortgage-free Glee!
I've got mine and OH's card, just waiting for the card reader. I've only got £1 in mine until nearer the date. It has been a bit longer getting this account up and running but I'm only doing it for the points! The rate is still pretty good at 6.0% anyway, it's way more than my mortgage with ING at 3.89%.
If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try - oh bu99er that just cheat :D
