I have to admit I get really annoyed about this subject. My dh has had one leg amputated but as he is in the forces we had his DLA claim turned down. The fact is he should be as entitled to it as the next person, they never even asked him what job he does in the forces and how it restricted him iyswim. He has struggled with terrible arthritis for years and has days where he can bearly walk on it and yet an old guy who lives near my mum and goes rambling every weekend gets the car, DLA, disabled parking bay outside his house - the lot!!! :mad:GC 2023 June £72/500 NSDs 1/100

Don't assume that anyone who reads the claim form will have any imagination regarding how this affects your OH and write down all the effects for him, including anything that has had to be adjusted for him to remain in the forces (ie, no longer on 'active duty' but deskbound, etc). A lot of people are turned down first, second and third time. Persevere with it.s/e0 -

Were you specifically told it was because he is in the forces?
If you have filled in the form showing how his disability affects him, then it shouldn't matter what job he is doing. DLA is not given for any particular illnesses or disabilities but because your health and mobility is limited. Get help from a welfare advisor to fill in the form and claim again. He has every right to receive DLA.0
