- in which case it was Friday, coz I read it at the dentist's) :psuggested that we go back to our mothers and grandmothers way of shopping, going every couple of days or so, thus cutting down waste, encouraging meal planning etc, so I've been trying that. Obviously some stuff is more than enough for that day (ie frozen food) so tops up the freezer. I've started so I'll let you know how it goes. I know it's not always easy to fit it in, but most of us will go past a supermarket, greengrocers etc at least every 2 days, so I thought it was worth a go.
BTW - I didn't start the ironing till 3.30 after I took DS's GF home, but it's all done now! Yippee!
Unfortunately I find that the more often I go to the supermarket, the more I buy. My best idea for stretching the budget is to buy what I think we need for 7 days and where possible make it last for 8-9 days. Can cause some strange meals on day 9 but who cares? We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0 -
Hi everyone...
Pigpen can I come back...?
I had done a weekly list for myself but I'm just not managing to get it done. I think there is something about being accountable to you guys that keeps me on the straight and narrow..well motivated, at least!!
Is there anything new I need to know about or do I just get stuck into the list...?0 -

oooh! I want to try that too, I've been thinking about getting one of those wheelie trolley things so I can shop without DH and the car (i don't drive). They're not exactly 'cool' though...Goals: Have a Homemade Christmas 2008, lose a 1 and a half stone, be thankful for everything I have.

Boy did I have an interesting walk to school!!!
I got halfway there and this crazy woman yelled at me from across the road.. 'excuse me!!'.... So of course I looke dat her like she was a loony and carried on walking so she called again.. so I vaguely had this idea it was me she was talking to.. noone ever talks to me and I have very little inclination to talk to them.. lol..
Anyway turns out she is the mum of the girl DS3 smashed in the face on Friday.. and he did break her nose it is spread halfway across her face and has bruised massively.. poor little thing looks awful and I felt REALLY sorry for her.. you know what the mothers gripe was??.. She, the poor love, has to take time off work to take her daughter to the doctors!!
Apparently my son needs help to control his temper.. so of course I sweetly suggested her daughter needs help to realise that 3 girls ganging up on one boy is out of order and classed as bullying and IMO, and the heads it was merely a playground scuffle which got out of hand and if she hadn't started the whole thing she would have been fine..
I was shaking with rage yet.. and I made myself very proud.. I remained calm and rational and when I got to the point I was going to smash her face in... I walked away.. How good am I...
I am 110 years old and I have NEVER in my life walked away from confrontation (expect with family which is different) and I did it.. I walked away before I said something I shouldn't, that was rude or hurtful or just punched them in the face (I have a mean right hook!).. and I am so proud of myself!! I know it isn't really something to be proud of.. but my temper if VERY volatile and I am evil with it.. so for me it is massive.
Then.. like a snitch I went and told the head at school what had occured because I think it is important it be noted.. just in case I need to make an official complaint to the police if she continues. Once I usually let go.. second time let's just say I won't be so.. lenient.
Anyway.. it is VERY VERY clear why the daughter is a bully.. the mother is too.. think playground fishwife and it is covered! Unfortunately.. it is impossible to bully me..LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
