Which Sat-Nav would you guys recommend?

Does anybody know that major differences between sat-navs being sold for hundreds and budget ones ?

I need one for UK use only and will be using in my local area (Lincoln, Lincolnshire) to help me get around as a Taxi Driver. Will need dynamic re-routing.

Thanks

tom tom, ive seen a few in action ,a nd have had differnet ones, but tom tom , are the best.easist to read, and use, easy programme on pc. if you buy one, have it for about 11 months then update it, so youll have the preloaded maps for about 11 months then the latest ones in a years time. if you get what i mean!

I have the Navman S50 (cost £99 in Sainsbury's in May). Great widescreen so it's easy to see and nice clear instructions.

Tip from OH if you do have a satnav - don't programme in your home address use another house number or nearby road in case it's stolen.

I have a Tom Tom one ,and find it easy to use . cant say I have ever had any problems with it . My husband who is usually quite skeptical of gadgets like this, is always using my sat nav for his work (he has recently changed areas ) and is now hooked on it !! .
ps very good tip from poppy9 about not programming in home address in case its stolen , must remember to do that when I get my sat nav back .......!!

I did have a tom tom Go 520, until it was stolen from my car last week... and it was brilliant.

They dont do the Go520 anymore, but they now do the 530 which looks cool, and i think that might be my replacement which i shall buy.

Just waiting for a good deal on it now though.

I just had to say that because my husband had programmed our home address into his sat nav the police was able to prove that the sat nav that they caught a burgler with was actually my husbands. We don't know yet if the police can prove that she (yes, she!) broke into our house in the first place which is when my husband's car keys were stolen, along with his car!

I guess it's easy enough to tell the police the actual address that you programme in as 'home'.

The only advice about actually buying a sat nav is to make sure it takes full postcodes. My husband's did but mine only takes first 4 letters/numbers which is practically useless!

  • Tomtom one is a good low(ish) cost but high quality unit that will get you from A to B very well and has dynamic rerouting. You can ususally get for under £100 these days.
I love my Tomtom One (V2) which I've had for 2 years and it's brilliant.
