ok did that and it says
linksys LNE100TX(v5) fast enthernet adapter
when I click on configure it says
This device is working properly


There are 4 other options ticked inthe middle box which is

Client for microsoft networks
file and printer sharing for microsoft networks
AEGIS protocol....
Internet protocol????

OK when your tower is connected to the router via the Ethernet cable, is there a LED illuminated for that port? Regarding the above (fast Ethernet adaptor), if you highlight Internet Protocol TCP/IP in the window (scroll down if necessary) then click Properties, are the two Obtain options IP & DNS checked?
