Roadworkers are in the construction industry. Of course its dangerous !!!!!!.

Ahh yes, because at the top of a scaffolding laying bricks is so much more dangerous than being in the middle of roadworks working away while idiots drive past at speed in all manner of weather conditions tailgating the car in front.

Speeding cars are not the main concern of 90% of the construction industry are they?
And as we all know, the Transport Research Laboratory, and the Health & Safety Executive, are never guilty of contributing to the Government's spin and lies regarding speed cameras and road safety statistics. :rotfl:

Common sense tells you that if lanes are coned off and shortened, if there is a likelihood of a workforce being in the road, its sensible to slow down.

Government spin doesnt even factor, its sense.

The really really important thing is that they were speeding, through roadworks in an unfamiliar car with the probability of a workforce in the road.....

FACT: 800 accidents are reported every year, but many other accidents go unreported. (Source: TRL 2000)
FACT: 11 roadworkers were killed in roadworks on motorways or trunk roads in England between October 2000 and February 2002. This equates to a 1 in 1000 (Source: HSE 2002)
FACT: According to research by Dr Stephen Roberts reported in The Lancet, roadworkers have the 16th most hazardous occupation in Great Britain; higher even than for military personnel.

Noticed in Florida when driving the signs saying "fines double when road works present".

It may well be, especially when working at heights, which motorway workmen usually are not. Why don't you demonstrate either way, by providing figures to bolster your argument? And before you move the argument away, why don't you address my original question?
  • Just to point out...I work for a garage and was in a customers vehicle.
He first got the letter throught and phoned us and just got brief details of that he had received a speeding notice whist we had his vehicle and my boss and a another thought it was me because it was a week since we'd had his ehicle and I was the driver then.
He then got the fine sent to us, the date of the speeding was a different day totally and no way was I the driver that day! Yippee
I rung the police to get photographic evidence and they are sending once they receive our letter because no-one can remember who drove the vehicle. The photo apparently though taken from the rear and the back of the drivers head can just be vaguely seen.
If this has helped you please don't forget to click Thanks, thankyou.

Oh that's good. I just didn't want you getting your hopes up if you thought it had been solely because the fine had been sent to them first.
