Speeding Fine Help
Hi everyone,
I just need a little advice please.
I have been notified by work that the customers car I was collecting last week got a speeding ticket on the motorway as I was bringing it to the garage where I work.
Not sure yet what speed, but I was on the motorway and doing less than the speed limit normally (70mph) however there was road works and it said reduce speed to max 50mph, but I did more than this, but there wasn't any advance notice of speed cameras or anything.
What are my chances of contesting this of not being given notice of speed cameras in operation??
I will be grateful of any help given

!!!!!! like you should be given prison sentences
Not for speeding but for admitting you were speeding then trying to cry your way out of the consequences
accept it like a man and hope your employers dont disclipline you0 -
Bit like there not being notices on knives that they are sharp and may cut ? wasnt the clue in the speed limit sign being present ? does it also need a sign saying "May get done" or "Nah you'll be fine mate"
Dont worry though someone with a pepeeeooo or something will come along soon and tell you not to worry as its all a ploy to collect money and not for the safety of the road workers0 -
No we would not. Anyone who breaks the speed limit in roadworks does it at their own risk.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Non at all. There is no requirement in law for speed cameras to be signed in any way. The only requirement for signage of speed cameras is if they're part of a local safety partnership and the revenue from the camera goes to that partnership so you can even have cameras in a safety partnership area that are unsigned but the revenue from them goes to Govt instead.
In short, you're going to get 3 points and a fine. If I were you, when the FPN comes through, accept it because if it goes to Magistrates, due to the fact you were speeding through roadworks, you're likely to end up with 4 points and a higher fine.0 -

The important consideration should be 'was he driving safely'?
A camera cannot do that. A real person can. Take your high horse and !!!!off with it tbh.0 -

The really important point is was he driving safely in a car that was owned by someone else that he would not be 100% familiar with?~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

My employer knows already knows and joked with me about it. Obviously owning up who drove this persons car when I was asked.
Yes I am willing to take the points and fine but just meerly asking if there was a way I could get out of it - credit crunch n all.
Yes it has taught me a lesson that even though I am at work, there is still no need to go any faster than the speed limit implied.
Regarding the driving in the customers vehicle I was doing less than the speeding limit on motorways but obviously more than 50 mph. I am usually a responsible driver, I have been driving for 20 years faultless. Better than most drivers.
But still I understand fully where you are all coming from and I did drive throught the road works (3rd lane closed for night works) at lunch time!If this has helped you please don't forget to click Thanks, thankyou.0 -
