Sunday 16/11/08 What small dfw things have you done today???

:D When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:D
Reduce,re-use, recycle.

Aiming for a NSD today as did shopping yesterday and all meals planned for.
Would like to get Christmas shopping finished but I now HATE spending money! Especially on the sort of stuff I have used as stocking fillers in the past.
Have a great day everyone - grey here and looks like rain - lots of washing later after DSs rugby!

PS I know what you mean about the lottery. I used to always use same numbers for an occassional ticket . Stopped that for years as I didn't want to cry if those numbers came up and I hadn't bought one!. Recently I have bought tickets online - and it's crept up to 1 lotto, 1 euromillions a week. I KNOW the odds are STUPID! My mum used to do her own lottery - she'd put a £1 in a jar and every four weeks won £4! I think I'd better go back to that one :rotfl:
    Getting there...slowly! :D

    GC : must do better
    NSD: very rare

No matter how slow I go I am lapping everyone on the couch.

  • Morning all!

    Today I will:

    1) Eat homemade bread for breakfast (and probably lunch and dinner!).
    2) Bake a new loaf for tomorrow.
    3) My mate wants to go to the movies but I'm hoping I can persuade him to go a free museum instead.
    4) Dye my roots at home.
    5) Sort out the rest of my Holiday budget.

    Enjoy your Sunday!

Different Corner, that sounds a very sensible idea. May follow suit and each time I think of playing lottery I'll put it in my sealed pot instead.

I'm going to try and get a bit done today - step-kids are going home this morning so rest of the day is our own.

Have to brave ringing my Mum telling her my in-laws have decided not to come on our christmas get-together. Am furious as we have been talking about it for months and we paid their deposit for them. £10 lost and no sign of them offering it to us. Grrrrr!

    * Washing at 30'c - line and airer dry
    * Leftovers from yesterday for lunch
    * Ironing - will warm kitchen up!!
    * Storecupboard tea
    * Count money in my Bertie Bassett (big money box) - its my Gammon and Beef fund for christmas!
    * Wrap some crimbo pressies

I'll think of some more later

How do you make your smoothies? I'm thinking I might have rather a lot of fruit to use up by the end of this week!

  • Today I will:
    • Get out of bed (soon - but I'm wasting no heating or electricity whilst being in bed - latops using battery!!)
    • Put on some washing (not at 30 I'm afraid though - my machine wont let me do that :( - unless someone can explain how - it's a crappy beko) and then hang it out to dry (I have come to the conclusion that as well as being cheaper than using the dryer, it is also quicker!)
    • Plan my lunches for the week - by looking in the freezer
    • Plan my dinners for the week - by looking in the freezer / cupboard
    • Remove all money/cards from my purse so I can't be tempted to spend any whilst at work (usually on food!)
    • Walk to my rehearsal!
    • Clean my house (if I can find anything left in the cupboard to clean it with - I've been using all the old stuff for the last little while, and it may now all be finished! If there's nothing there, it can wait another week - or two!!)
