Any ideas what to get a VERY difficult man?

Ebay is your friend. Anything big that requires local pickup goes for peanuts usually, as only people within that area are interested.

Gym stuff is always plentiful and cheap. Virtually unused half the time.

Fish tanks, bikes, furniture, musical instruments, golf clubs could be possibilities?

I have a difficult DH and brother so have been scouring this thread for ideas...thank you!
I copied the football programme idea for brother (festive fivers comp 2007); favourite team, year of birth, closest match to birthday - £2.24 on ebay inc postage. Will be framing it.
Sadly DH hates football, but it set me off on an ebay hunt for Beanos, Dandys, Marvel comics from his year of birth. Very nostalgic... some are cheaper than others, but there are bargains!

I did this last year for all my family (though I didn't frame them) and they loved it. My brother was particularly thrilled as he was 50 last year and was born on a saturday so the date was spot on! Have passed the idea on to someone at work who also thought it a brilliant idea! So thanks for to 1998 jjb for originally coming up with the idea!

Thank you so much for that :A . I was planning on getting a set for my sister to name a star after her late baby son Joshua as she is always talking about doing it but never has. I've just done it online and it cost me £1.38 to add a banner on the top so it didn't say it was free and I will just buy a nice frame from Wilkinsons or something and it should only cost me around a fiver. I'll print it off on good quality paper at work tomorrow.

How about a charity gift from CAFOD? (http://worldgifts.cafod.org.uk/). They have a really nice range of charity gifts this year and he'll never know how much it cost (unless he looks at the website!) because the real present goes to someone else.
