Thank you for all of your suggestions everyone. I'm going to do the photo idea, a hamper and a pot of gold I think.
Hopefully this won't cost too much and at least it's something.

how about gift voucher for a gadget shop, a hand knitted jumper (do his 'n' hers design. so you get one too!), or his favourite aftershave?Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)0 -
Does he drink beer? My bf is a typical bloke, so i got him a youngs beer brewing kit, it comes in a HUGE box and looks good wrapped up, and it only cost £20 from wilkinsons. Looks like it is worth alot more than that.0

is he a gadget man -or drive a lot? Play.com have the Sat Nag system, only £5 and looks good for a laugh. Just ordered one for my hubby as he won't have a word said against his beloved sat nav!

My hubby and I don't have much money to spend on each other for Christmas so we shop creatively. Mine is just a boy at heart so it's not that difficult for me.
He's a book lover, especially of old books. I frequent charity shops, table top sales etc for books I think he'll enjoy. I got lucky this year and found one entitled The Year You Were Born for his birth year. In was in great shape and got it for 10p.
I also hit up the Pound Shops for little goodies. Sometimes you can find some good bargains there. I get sweets there and little gadgets that boy men like. I wrap the lil things up and stuff them in a stocking for him.
Homemade voucher/coupon books would work well. If he's one of those guys that hate doing a thorough cleaning, you could make up coupons for cleaning his refridge, cabinets etc out in the kitchen etc. Also nice for backrubs, a special meal at home.
What are his tastes in music? Certain music download sites offer free trials where you can download an unlimited amount of music legally. How about putting his fave songs on a cd. A one of a kind gift just for him.
Pick up cute mugs at a charity shop, discount store etc. Buy some individual packets of cocoa and/or coffee to stuff in them. Wrap in shiny paper with a bow tied at the top. Candy canes go great in with cocoa, use as a stir stick. Chocolate dipped plastic spoons are great to go with coffee.
Hope this helps. Remember if he chooses to spend that amount of money for gifts for you, that is his choice. You've let him know how your finances are. A gift should be chosen for the joy it will bring someone, not for how much it costs in my opinion.Take the first step.
Even if you cannot see the whole staircase,
Just take the first step.

I'm getting my dad a book called '100 Belgian beers to try before you die' and a small selection of them to help him on his way :rotfl:0

I mean, to help him on his way to having tried them all, rather than helping him on his way to.... oh, you know what I meant0

One of the things I'm getting my boyfriend this year is a book about knots and rope and three metres of climbing rope to go with it! Pretty geeky but he's really into his climbing and outdoor stuff so I know he'll love it. Got the book from Amazon, there's lots of different titles with a huge price range, and got the rope from a dealer on eBay for three pounds.
He climbed Kilimanjaro last year and I found a set of expedition maps on eBay, which will look great framed. I was otherwise thinking of getting one of his photos from the trip printed onto a canvas, which would be about 20 pounds I think.
Another idea is a bottle of nice whisky and a set of whisky glassses - can probably do that for around 30 pounds.0 -
I'm getting my hubby yet another socket set:rolleyes: he also wants a book on vegetable gardening.
getting a pipe and slippers too!
He's only 34:rotfl:0 -
I found a link on here for a free star. You can name a star after him and print out the certificate. My hubby loved it and thought it was one of these gift experiences which cost £39.99 but only cost me the frame and 50p because if you pay the 50p they take their banner off the certificate that says it was free. It looks lush and cost me £2.69 in total x x:happyhear YUMMY MUMMY TO HENRY BEAR AGED 10:happyhearslimming world need to get back to target 25lb to goDisney World here we come May 2018:j0
