  • ooh, the toffee puddings sound nice!!!!!! umm, that smilie is supposed to look like its drooling............................

hope i wont get into trouble for this as i know it should be on the old styly board but.................. my teacake recipe:

    450g strong plain flour
    1 tspn salt
    25g butter
1 1/2 tspm easy blend dried yeast
    25g caster sugar
    115g currants
    250ml milk.
    1. grease 2 baking sheets and set aside. sift the flour and salt into a large bowl, then lightly rub in the butter. stir in the yeast , sugar and currants. Make a well in the centre then stir in enough milk, mixing to form a soft dough.
    2. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and kneed till smooth. Shape into a round, then place in a slightly oiled bowl, cover and leave to rise in a warm place untill doubled in size.
    3. knock back the dough on a floured surface, then divide into 8 equal pieces. roll and shape each piece into a round teacake and !!!!! each one twice on top with a fork. place on the baking sheets, cover and leave to rise for about 30 mins or untill doubled in size.
    4. preheat the oven to 200*c/400*f/gm 6. brush the teacakes with a little milk then bake for 20-25 mins or untill risen and golden brown. transfer them to a wire rack to cool.
for a breadmaker: change the following ingredints.... 300ml milk, 1 1/4 tspn salt and use fast action yeast. Add the ingredients in order to your specific breadmaker and use the dough/rasin dough setting. add the currants when the breadmaker beeps to add ingredients during the kneeding cycle or 5 mins before the end of the kneeding cycle. then continue from step 3 above.

as i said in my diary they tasted ok but think it may need a little mixed spice/cinnamon added to get the shop bought flavour.

I joined quidco yesterday so will have to check out the daily clicks. I am with Greasypalm too so got lots of my xmas presents through them. For some reason though there system and my computer dont get along and I have to manually claim cashback each time as they dont track it properly, hope Quidco not the same problem.

As rags says probably best avoid the fudge for the moment, get plenty of rest and dont do too much X X X

  • well i still feel a bit rubbish today but nowhere near asbad as yesterday!! So might be able to get some more done today. DD1 has gone back to school and they have gone to a pantomime this morning - she was a bit worried about it being to noisey and dark!bless. But im sure with her friends being there aswell she will love it!!

I am doing hampers for parents and inlaws for xmas this year. Also for my nan and for my great uncle, these are nearly finished just going to put some of the fudge in (if we get round to making it) also might do some xmas shaped cookies or something the girls can do.... But for my mum and her husbands, i have lots in but its all really for my mum - smellies etc....there isnt anything for stepdad!! mym dads has a little bit in but not lots and the inlaws have hardly anything so need to think of more things and soon!! They all have a photo in a frame of the girls we had done professionally last mth and a pic of dd1s first school photo, might go and look and the finished hampers thread on here to get some more ideas!! Trying to not spend to much.....
Dh has got a few bits from us already and i have ordered something that i hope gets here in time but they said they cant garente xmas delivery!! so just have to hope.....

Going to try and go to the market after picking up dd from school later, see if i can get any last min goodies....Did see the cheese man does some nice jams and chutneys etc so might get the inlaws some for there hamper...

Got to go to the bank tomorrow to pay in the cheques that i got for my bday - hadnt done it so far as i was worried i might spend them on rubbish but its silly to not pay them in.
Dh is now saying he thinks his black trousers wont fit for his xmas do at the weekend, so i need to get them out so he can see if they fit as i dont want to buy more if we dont need to....Also going to try and go through my wardrobe and see if something thats nice will fit over the bump! saves me buying more! going to look on ebay for a new coat as it might be cheaper and then i can still get what im meant to and then put some towards the debt aswell.

Anyway think its time for a tea and have a look at the hampers....

when i was preggars, i bought a coat (£15ish from asda) and it was one of those thats has 4 buttons at the top and the rest is sort of an a-line shape, bought one in a size 16 and found that fit nicely over my bump, and i can still wear it now as fits nicely over my woolie jumpers and they are still in fashion!!
your hampers sound good!!! wish i had thought of doing something like that!!!!! (mental note for next year)

Glad you feel a bit better too Mummy.

I havent bought a maternity winter coat, just got a thick cardigan in a Next sale so have been wearing that over jumpers. Maternity coats were either impossible to find or way too expensive.

I have done hampers for my rellies too. For my 18yr old cousin I did a booze/night in one (£15), Nan&Pap had a M&S food (£30) one which I used some vouchers I had. Best friend had a Cadburys one again using vouchers I had from Sainsburys (£10) and other friends and Aunties Pamper Hampers (£7). Was really chuffed as when I wrapped them in the cellophane from Ebay they looked FAB!!

  • I didnt have a maternity coat the other times i was pregnant just a thick cardy! but this time i walk to the school and walk a lot more around the village so was thinking ill prob need one, my coat still does up so im ok at the moe!! lol and ill see how i get on and might just get a bigger size in the sale or something.....

Well ive been shopping today and spent some of my bday money! I got a something for tomorrow night (dh xmas do!!) Well i have a few options now!! (ill take what i dont wear back.) also got a couple of jumpers and some tights. I took the boots back i got for my bday but they didnt have any nice ones to change for (unless i wanted to spends £90!!!!!) so i got a pair of shoes instead (hush puppies on sale!) and got some money back, and i noticed in a different shop a pair of boots for £15 so will get them instead. so managed to get some shoes and will get some boots for £5 more then just the boots!! yeah... also treated dh got him some new games for his ps3, traded in three of his old games he never uses and got him two pre owned games and paid £11, prob didnt need to buy them but pre dfw i would of spent £50 for a new game no questions!

Yesterday i spent a bit aswell, on xmas presents, not to much and got some good deals. Also got some cash back, dh was shocked at howlong i took to buy a dvd! as i went through checking where cheapest and then going through quidco.. it all helps..

My meal plan also went to pot tonight,,,,,, ended up getting a chinesse for £12 but got it out of bday money so dont feel tobad! I also paid in my cheques (£300) which i got for bday and £100 for the girls for xmas. So i might put some of this towards paying for the curries debt and then the girls money towards getting them a new bed, thinking of getting a bunk bed which can be two normal beds till dd2 gets a little bigger, need dd2s bed to make back into a cot when this one comes along....

Tomorrow we have the christmas do(very mse as its all free :D) and are staying at the inlaws for the night then on sun when we get back going to my friends who has a farm so the girls get to see the animals and then santa is coming to visit. so have a nice busy weekend. Alos have to sort out my washing machine as mum wants to give me the money towards it now so i can get it ordered :)

I really do go on loads and loads on here - sorry if anyone is reading it!!

    xx
