My experience as follows: Local Carphone Warehouse store accepted my old mobile without charger or manual but the guy checked that it powered up without error (no SIM card installed).
The £10 credit was "pre-loaded" on a new T-mobile SIM card and I could not transfer this onto any other T-mobile SIM card. Neither the shop or T-mobile themselves would transfer the credit.
The Samsung B130 phone was unlocked as expected and seems to be good value having payed a net sum of £4.95 plus old mobile for the new phone with spare SIM card with £10 credit. By the way, contrary to some specifications, the phone does not appear to have a handsfree option.
Edit: I found the handsfree option - the somewhat terse instructions do not cover this at all.0 -
Was that the nokia 1650? Apparently the handsfree is via a cable that presumably doubles as a antenna for the FM radio
I have an old philips mobile from 1999, no charger, I wonder if they'd take that.....0 -
I traded in a Nokia 6150 of similar vintage so it's worth a try. When I asked what they do with the old phone, they simply said they went for "recycling" so I'm not sure what's the deal there.

Okay, managed to use my old 3210, the guy gave me my charger back! Kind of wanted to get rid of it but never mind. They only let me buy one phone because apparently you need some kind of photo ID to buy multiple phones. Might try my phillips after all.
Kudos to Nokia too, the box for the 1650 is about half the size of the 1100 with more stuff in it!0 -
The Samsung one isn't showing on the Carphone warehouse site. Is it because they're out of stock or what?0
