Have you checked the Travelodge website? I've booked a night at the Covent Garden one as part of their £9 promotion.

phone them up and ask what's the best they can do? they usually knock the price down a bit. I've done this in the past and had £20.00 per night knocked off. Some will throw in breakfast for free

  • I phoned them up and they said they cant give any prices over the phone its only a reception to check in/out guests. I was told the only way to check prices and book it to go on the Travelodge site online or phone a 0871 number but thats an automated service they said you dont speak to anyone.

How long ago was this? £32 for a decent hotel room in London is already cheap as chips!
  • I don't have the answer for you, but I am sure that if you try lastminute.com a week or less before your trip, you are sure to find some bargains. It is not really the high season, tourist wise, so I think that you can probably safely do this.

But I tend to agree, that you would be hard pressed to find something cheaper than 35 pounds, even that is way to cheap for Central London (for a decent room, that is).
How about staying somewhere out of the West End, but still very central. There are millions hotels in Earls Court, very safe and buzzy area, still in the first zone of London and Picadilly tube only a few stops to the heart of West End?

    P.S.
On second thought, Earls Court is probably too expensive for the budget you have in mind. Perhaps lastminute com is one of the options
  • If you look on the grabbit board there is a 10pound room sale at De vere hotels and they have one in Greenwich and a few other places reachable on the underground. The hotels I looked at seemed quite upmarket and I managed to get a room in the Greenwich one and another in Bletchworth, Worth looking at anyway. The link is on the grabbit board also.
  • I just remembered:

Easy Hotel in Kensington (easyhotel.com). The rooms are miniscule and some don't have windows (in the basement for example), but they are clean and cheap as chips. Check them out if you are interested in staying out of the West End, but on good transport (Tube) line
