Which is the best FREE antivirus software?

it amazing that people want things for NOTHING. rather than spend £20 on a decent internet security package as a stand alone AV package is not effective these days.

No it isn't!
In any event free AV packages together with something like Malwarebytes and a firewall work very well and have kept me virus free. I got Mcafee with my new computer some time ago and it was free for 15 months. Although runs ok it is not very flexible and wants me to obey its orders!

It's amazing that people pay for things when they don't have to.

There is a plethora of other free security tools to supplement a free AV product.

Nothing wrong with going free - just because something costs money, doesn't mean it's worth buying.

The best software generally IS free, with obvious exceptions like Photoshop. I wouldn't use most payed software even if they were free.

Amazing a newbie resurrects a 3 year old thread to post an AV list on a website run by a guy called arun - and the newbie is called boscharun go figure
