No it isn't!
In any event free AV packages together with something like Malwarebytes and a firewall work very well and have kept me virus free. I got Mcafee with my new computer some time ago and it was free for 15 months. Although runs ok it is not very flexible and wants me to obey its orders!0 -

Nothing wrong with going free - just because something costs money, doesn't mean it's worth buying.
The best software generally IS free, with obvious exceptions like Photoshop. I wouldn't use most payed software even if they were free.0 -
