    Sounds like they will do a private sale to the 'friends' to avoid EA fees and/or they've set a price which is tax 'advantageous' with the balance being a wodge of notes stuffed into a jiffy-bag.


    Ah yes if the reduced sale price put them under stamp duty then you could probably be very evil and send a letter to the bit of the government that ensure stamp duty isn't avoided and point out you've been gazundered in this way.
    Might not help you get the house though :)

    Yeah, it always seems to be that someone will forget any loyalty and go with the bigger offer, so this one is pretty strange! Who wants to lose £8K at this point in time?! If it's a friend though people do the strangest things, however I don't know any friends that would give me that good a deal on anything!
