  • ecangel,
It doesn't sound to me like they will listen. I wouldn't waste my breath.
Maybe you can sneak the thermostat down once in a while, in the meantime why not just think of your £55 a month as part of an 'all in rent deal' . Not the best deal but you needed to find a home quickly. It's better than sleeping on a park bench. If you've agreed to an amount for bills I guess you have to honour it, enjoy being warm for the moment, you're paying for it whether you like it or not.
In the meantime look for somewhere nice to live.
It's never easy sharing particularly with people you don't know well.

  • my view is that if the bills are a set fixed amount, then there isn't anything for you to do. you agreed to that level when you moved in. i realise that you are subsidising their selfish behaviour, but at least it's at a fixed level you know in advance. in shared houses we've all split bills when they came in, and only then did it become clear how much gas/electricity others were using. if it was variable, i'd be worried, but it's not, so just let them get on with it and move out as soon as you can!

as for the rest of their annoying behaviour..... well there are so many unreasonable people out there..... hopefully you can make your room your own space and try to avoid them until you can find somewhere else?
