  • Thanks for your advice everyone.

I would love to move out but I'm signed into a 6 month contract. I think at christmas I may re think things and try and get out of it. I'll have just graduated so may have to move away anyway if I find a job! But thats a whole other problem! lol!

£55 a month bill money is a lot. Two of you are covering the majority of the gas and the electric at that amount.

To be honest it doesn't sound like a healthy environment to be in and studying. You need to be able to relax when you come home in the evenings. As a parent I wouldn't like to think my son is going through this

It might be worth checking out the students union for different accommodation. There might be some available if students have dropped out.

  • Cornball I think I am just going to have to like it or lump it. I checked the timer a few weeks ago, and they have it set to come on about 6 times a day, It comes on during the night incase they need the loo. They also wont shut any doors because of their cats! This is not a joke, even their bedroom door, while having sex! Was not what you want at midnight when you go to brush your teeth!

When I am home I only use my bedroom, as feel so uncomfortable in the rest of the house.
Hopefully though come christmas I can get out of there.
I think unfortunetly you may have all just confirmed my thoughts that I cant do anything. They are all 10 - 16 years older than me, with completely different lifestyle. Big mistake moving in.

As i'll graduate before christmas, finding accommodation with other students isnt feasible. I've told one of my brothers about it (hes much older) but not my parents, just because I know it would break their hearts to know I'm living with these types of people in such a horrid house. Especially as I've been so ill the last few years, and we have only just regained contact. My dearest Mum would probably ring the police!

Just as a matter of interest, how are they managing with paying the council tax; this is often a problem when students share with non students. I wonder if your bill money's so high because they're getting you to contribute towards this.

Sorry, I'm just an old cynic at heart!

Well ecangel24, as someone who is now persona non mater for ringing the daughter's Land-pigging-Landlady, to sound off at her constant harrasment, I have no advice to give.
You should be grateful for that. I can jeopardise even a secure tenure.

ETA, are you looking on Gumtree for a new place?

As I was only going to be a student for a couple of more months and incredibly desperate for somewhere to live I agreed to pay the council tax. But according to my contract council tax is included in the rent.

Your lucky you have your brother to talk to. Its like telling the family if you know what I mean. ;). (Parent sometimes are more aware of things than you give them credit for. We are nosey by nature when it concerns our children :p)
As you don't have so long to go, maybe just accept it and concentrate on your future. Soon you will be well away from all of this and later years you will look back and laugh. We'll maybe just amazed you got through it.

I have a good relationship with my son and sometimes I think it scares him when he realises the tales hes telling me. :rotfl: Mind you I won't be asking him about the strip club again or the trip to Amsterdam. :rotfl:

  • Right, you need to catch them one day and gather them up around a sofa and take the sky remote control. Tell them the problems you are finding and ask them to be aware of the high gas & electricity bills. Explain to them if we as a whole dont start turning things off and lowering our heating then we will receive a bill which we will not be able to afford and be eventually be black listed and kicked out. Then for a few days make is loud and clear when you see something you have mentioned not being adhered to. Believe me that worked with my brother and his housemates. If all fails i know its hard but try to find another place and maybe you do not have to mould your new housemates any way. Good Luck
