Stamp image then emossing using powder and a heat gun. but what if u want to [watercolour] image? do u colour in before or after u emboss?
Hi Kim, I would colour it afterwards, otherwise you'd be colouring over the ink you want to emboss if you see what I mean, as the ink still needs to be wet for the embossing powder to stick0 -
kim did you mean embossing where the stamped lines are, or clear embossing over the whole thing to make an enamelly effect?0

hi, im using the clear powder so i sprinkled it over whole image shuck axcess powder off and heated.
the watercolouring i did with dovecraft markers [like whispers] which are inky but dont give a very effective embossed look therefore i was wondering if i should emboss then colour or after colouring?0 -
Fab card Rusty!!!
Mel - what did the boys think about being evacuated? Bet it was rather strange, good that you could all go back to your house though. Hope you didn't have all youir MIL's neighbours crashing round to yours too!!!
Kim - sorry I don't know the answer to your question as I don't emboss anything.

sorry I'm not sure Kim, never tried it that way. I don't know if you'd even be able to colour on top of a clear embossed surface?0 -

Ok, re: emossing [i know it mightnt be of interest to everyone]
I havent found a concise answer:mad: but it appears google says images should be embossed when ink is wet thus suggesting emboss asap [before colouring].
Also other websites comment how embossed images are a good template for colouring within the raised lines!
So ill keep looking, thanks for the suggestions last night.0 -
:think:You've got me intrigued about this embossing Kim_p, I wanna try it so I know too! I would be more inclined to emboss the outlines with black embossing powder, colour the image in then emboss again the whole thing with clear powder.
EDIT: Just checked you said you use watercolours - I don't think they emboss very well, I think for a strong colour you need to use permanent markers (?)I don't want to make money, I just want to be wonderfulMarilyn Monroe0 -
Flourgirl If you want access to the stash let me know
Hamish sent me some lovely suff and I will be uplaoding all of it in the next day or 2 ..the kits she sent make lovely cardsIf you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel0 -
Quickisave- thats what i was thinking of doing stamping the image [possibly in black ink] then throw on the clear powder and heat while still "wet" then colouring the image [some sort ink based coloured pens] and embossing entire image again
I know the watercolour pens dont emboss that well cause the lady in the shop yesterday was showing me with a stamp inked with and inkpad and it embossed well.
But then she showed me a stamp inked with the pens and it didnt emboss that well.
Im silly i forgot to ask her what you do when u want to colour in the image!!!:mad::mad:
Yesterday I stamped am image with an ink pad and coloured it in fairly quickly and then embossed it came out well [for 1st attempt] however i them stamped a second image but this too me longer to colour [thus the ink from ink pad prob would have dried] and the embossing was not that good.... hence all the questions:rolleyes:
