Making cards - Ideas for a card craft beginner (part 2)

Gosh, it looks like a lot of us are having a rough time at the moment
.
My 18mo nearly drowned in the bath yesterday through my own stupid foolishness - i turned my back and when i turned around he was struggling under water - scared me so much i cried and held him all evening.
I'm grateful it happened though as i will never, ever take my eyes off him in the bath again.
There's so much potential for accidents with little ones, through foolishness (like last night) or just plain old accidents - it really scares me to think something might happen to my (or anyone else's) children.
I think the 'real world' is why I need cardmaking/scrapbooking so much - it's pure escapism that also happens to be 'healthy' (though maybe not the best thing for my bank account
).
Anyway, sorry to go on.
I hope things pick up for us all. It's a shame it's the beginning of the month and we have to wait another 2 weeks for the swaps - they would give many of us a very much needed warm fuzzy feeling i'm sure.
Don't be too hard on yourself, thank goodness everything turned out okay. I have had to visit A & E a couple of times with my 3 year old as he is a real dare devil and it takes me days to get over it - not to mention a few bacardi's !
I agree with you about the escapism - you need some "me" time when they all go to bed. Keep smiling

Manson666 - I know it is hard but try not to worry and go and seek some advice re: your job as it does not sound right to me either.
The Wife - Enjoy your stamps when you get them. I cannot stamp for the life of me so do not find half price stamps tempting (thank goodness !)
Rainmac - Your crafty place challenge card is great and I hope your LO feels better soon.
JailhouseBabe - I'm with you as I hate BB too - I would rather watch paint dry :rotfl:
Louby Loo Loo - Good luck with the craft fair, hopefully the sunshine will bring lots of people out0 -

Rusty - I have sent you a PM0 -
Could you put them in a poly pocket each to keep mucky paws off then if someone buys own take out of poly pocket and put in white/brown bag or wrap in tissue paper for buyer?louby-lou-lou wrote: »Iv'e got a craft stall tomorrow for my nappy cakes and baby gifts so i have been busy making baby cards all day but i have run out of cello bags to put the last 6 in. do you think they would be ok without or should i leave those 6 at home, i don't want them to get damaged or dirty with people keep picking them up. I will update my blog over the weekend with pics of the cards and stall.

I'll be with you jailhouse - I pride myself on never seeing even a tiny bit - I watched the first and second series and that was enough
.
Glad everything was ok npsmama - accidents will happen - I took my eyes off DD for 10 secs when she was 2 and she managed to fall down a flight of steps and chip 2 of her teeth - she'd only had them a few months and was bleeding everywhere - I had to be brought round by a life guard (we were at the beach)
- 20 mins later she was eating chicken nuggets :rotfl: - it worried me for years until her big teeth came through but they're fine. Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended

Don't worry you two about us and BB, we won't be discussing it here it will be on our own little thread on Craftyplace.
I had one of those toddler incidents too. I took my eye of my 18 month old in the paddling pool and his older brother tried to drown him! We all have tales like that!
I don't want to make money, I just want to be wonderfulMarilyn Monroe0 -
Jailhousebabe/ Emma OC/ Paddingtondoo - I forgive you all for saying that you hate BB. For the first few series I was seriously addicted and couldn't bare to miss an episode - now I'm not as hooked - but I always make sure I watch the first episode to see who has gone in.
Npsmama - what a horrible shock. Kids are scary things - I worry about mine all the time.0 -
"The Wife - Enjoy your stamps when you get them. I cannot stamp for the life of me so do not find half price stamps tempting (thank goodness !)"
EmmaOC - I've snipped you but I so agree I can't stamp for toffee either. Stamps look pretty on the shelf but that's where they stay!
Melissa75 - that's very kind of you to offer - I haven't got a need at the moment but if I need stamping done I'll let you know.
Snipped Emma again
"JailhouseBabe - I'm with you as I hate BB too - I would rather watch paint dry"
EmmaOC & Jailhouse - That makes three of us! My friends sister works on the editing of the show -'nuff said.
Npsmama - sorry to hear of your shock very glad you are both OK. I can only imagine how you must have felt.
The wife - Thank you very much I'll have a look after tea.
Rainmac - If you (or anyone else) want anything 'cuttling' let me know I've not got much in the way of kit but if I don't start using it soon it will be partner to my dust catcher sewing machine:rotfl:I haven't got any alphabet - too dear. Very sorry your little one is poorly again my little brother used to get bad infections & my friend suffer every time she flies on holiday.
Louby lou lou - good luck with your craft fair.
Paddington - Was the life guard dishy or were you too traumatised to notice? Just had to chuckle as I pictured the scene.0 -
Evening all!
I've had a lovely day being mummy and even managed to sneak in a quick card while making tea!
Fifi FOlle - have a great time at Take That - I'm slighly embarassed to say that I saw them 1st time round - and was too old then! I remember being asked by a little girl where my daughter was - it was flipping brilliant though!
Manson - I'm really sorry to hear you've been having such a tough time. It certainly doesn't seem right was is happening to you at work.
Npsmama- bring on the piglets - I'd love to see them.
Rainmac - sorry your little one is poorly - ear infections are the pits aren't they? My 3 yo is coeliac and has a slight kidney abnormality but has the constitution of an ox day to day, whereas my 6 yo seems to pick things up really easily.
Louby Lou Lou - good luck with your stall. I've done a couple of fairs in the past but it's really hard to make any money with just cards!
npsmama - don't beat yourself up too much - although I know you will. I think we've all done something like that in the past. Both my boys have fallen down the stairs and miraculously grabbed the banisters each time. I still felt sick though.
For some insane reason I'm letting mine stay up a bit late tonight, they're usually asleep by now but are now watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (original) for about the 100th time! Still I am on here!
Have a lovely evening and weekend everyone. I'm off to London for the day with DH while my mum has the boys - shopping for my birthday yay!0 -
the wife fab challenge card - I love the colours:T
melissa I always say I won't watch BB but somehow I always seem to although now I tend to watch the main ones - nominations and evictions. I will come over to CP and have a chat.

JHB love the things on your blog. the door hangers and bookmarks are so pretty. how annoying though that one of the girls stamped all over her bookmark - I'm not surprised you were:mad:. the tilda and gorjuss girls cards are fab too - I love the way tilda is sitting on the ribbon:T
manson sorry to hear you are having a tough time at the moment. I agree with what everyone has already said about your job - I'm sure they can't treat you like that because you have been off sick. are you able to see someone else on the consultant's team? do these people not realise that you will worry then to say well I'm away for 2 weeks and give no further information:mad: I hope you are able to see someone sooner than that
npsmama as lots of people have already said we all have incidents with our children. when my son was about 1 he was in the paddling pool by himself, slipped and went under the water on his back and there was no way he could get up. like you it scared me and made me feel sick to think what could have happened. glad you are both OK. i would love to see pics of your piglets - I bet they are soooooo cute!
