Rainmac...I love your pocket cards so pretty and different

Mumhug and Craftygranny, I hope your feeling better soon

Rusty ...Thats a lovely idea to do on your DD birthday , It will be so hard to be happy for her ...When my mom died we took her ashes to Majorca ( great fun getting through customs with her) and had a service at sea and sprinked rose petals by her favourite hotel. It all helps to healing process and whatever feels right for you

    BunBun...here ya go
http://www.imag-e-nation.com/acatalog/double_sided_tape.html They are only small rolls but with fee pp I tend to order loads ...Great father day card

Melissa...Dont worry about it , when you have time and the kids are sorted is fine
I havnt tried Adsa ones but I have tried the Tesco ones I might get Harry to do a bit of market reasearch...lol

I havent been on much the past couple of days, we have been trawling the travel agents trying to get a holiday sorted for sometime in the next couple of weeks and its being a nightmare. The cruise I have been watch since christmas finaly came down to a price I wanted to pay for a balcony cabin so I went to book it and they had sold them all...I was gutted
So still nothing booked and a huge headache
If you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel

I have been reading this thread on and off for a few weeks, as well as the original thread.

I am really eager to get into card making but I really dont know where to begin, I have spent ages browsing lots of sites through the various links posted and could quite easily spend a small fortune of papers and embellishments.

What I am asking is what do i really need to begin - I know its a rather simple question to ask but I just want to try to see if i am any good with breaking the bank.

I know people have previously suggested saving old cards and bits of ribbon ect, but I want to start now.

I was thinking of starting with a few fathers day cards and birthday cards as June is full of Birthdays.

Arrrggghhh I am not going to be able to make a card by monday and I so wanted to join in the challenge!!

I picked up my card stock from WHSmiths, not sure who posted the link mentioning they were cheap?

Anyway I now have 100 cards for about £3.50 ish? champion so big thankyou to whoever it was.

I ordered some K&Co papers off ebay last week, they arrived safely today, I must say they are very pretty, might have to see if I can get some more! lol never used k&co before or even seen them in the flesh but got these for a couple of quid on ebay!

    Welcome Rinroo!

The best advice I was ever given regarding cardmaking is to layer things. Layering will make the difference between a preschooler's card and a card that is more sophisticated.
Do you have a shop called The Works nearby? They do card kits quite often. It's not the cheapest way to make cards in the long run but for a beginner they are handy as usually everything coordinates together.
Or you can PM me and I can send you a card kit with the bits and bobs I have lying around. ;)

Rusty - the balloon idea made me well up too. I'm so sorry you're having so much to deal with at once.

What does everyone think if we make Rusty an honorary member of this week's challenge and put her name in the hat even if she can't submit a card? :)

Rinroo- Ive recently started card making.... it all started by visiting a new shopping complex and I happened to look in a paper shop [which turned out to be very good].... and i found out they ran beginner clases so i went to 1, after which i bought some basics and began.

So what i trying to say is if you have a craft shop or community centre near by find out if they run a class for beginners and this will give you a start re ideas and techniques.

Basic things I bought were a self healing craft mat, a giloutine [the craft shop recommended this one as it had different blades], they had a fill a box of card stock(white cream and pastel colours are handy) and 1 stamp [which was only 2.99, i have used it numerous times with different ink colours ]. But you can buy pre stamped images of ebay quite cheaply. And I bought some mult coloured flowers from craft shop for ebelishments.

For ideas, I found this thread v useful by look at other ppls ideas for tips and inspiration. Also googling card making projects. I find that i use stamps a fair bit but i think this is what the inital class centred around. Or I use templates eg this for new baby. Or printed images from the net printed on gd quality paper with a flower and ribbon can look just as good at low cost.

Don't know whether this will be any good for anyone but today in Poundland they had card making kits with 12 cards & envelopes along with colour co-ordinated greetings, sequins, material, ribbon, etc. Had them in pinks/purples, blues/greens, oranges/yellows and creams (wedding themed)!
