I love the balloons idea too so nice for your little ones to do. We planted a tree for our grandad. We looked into the national scheme but you couldn't decide which part or where it went. we wanted some where to go on those Special days and found some where just down the road, we go there and take a picnic and drink a toast to grandad.:)Mummy to 2 wonderful boys

I thought about planting a tree for him, just in our garden or something but we found out from his will that he has bought a plot of land to have his ashes spreaded around, it is woodland and part of the national trust so planting a tree didn't feel right, although with the baloons I know he would have loved to see the children having fun with the baloons and watching as they flew away. I am going to make some tags to put on them then at least I feel like I have done something. I think the hardest part is that he shares his birthday with my daughter, and sorting through paperwork yesterday my mum handed me 2 blank birthday cards, My grandad had bought one for DD and one for me but not had the chance to write in them so I have kept them and put them on the fireplace.
Thankyou again for all of your messages
you are all very kind and lovely xxx
P.S Rainmac, sorry for making you cry ... you made me cry with your pressies you sent up

Hello all - only popped in quick between covering yet another shoe box with fabric (this time a nice festive green but what a pain to do.....)
and soc.services meeting this afternoon -bout half hours time:eek:
Rusty - you could see if there was a rose bush with your grandads name to it and plant that. I thought about that for my Mum.......there's two choices for Mum and only one I found for Dad that I liked and that had the same name as him. Just a thought.
crafty granny - do hope you feel better soon
Got to go..........bit of catching up before meeting startsMary
