Hi,
Mellissa told me about saveapenny, she thought sh might be able to help.
am new to this side of the site but her goes, been making cards for a few weeks now, i have some lovely pictures what my kids have drawn, and i wanted to make them into cards, and custom backing paper does anyone know how you make backing paper ? its the overlaying i seem to be having problems with so any info would be appreciated thanks.0 -
Kids are in bed, so here are the cards I have made tonight. Both are sympathy cards, and my favourite is the layered topper (first time i've done one of these from scratch). Although the outline stickers 'Thinking of you', look wonky on the cards, in real life they aren't.2016 is the year I am going to find time for me, and cherish the time I spend with my friends and family. It is also time to save - Aim £4,000 - So far this year - £230/£4,0000

Bunbun - I love your card - really nice bright colours.
Ct19720 - great cards - you have been busy.0 -
wow, sounds like a great idea from your OH CT19720 - wish mine would take me to hobbycraft and offer to pay! he normally just waits in the car for me lol, although I dont tend to go very often as it can be more expensive than online shopping. I just love looking round the huge shop and seeing whats available, then looking to see if I can get it cheaper online
If you havent already got a Versamark clear ink pad then one of those would be useful as it will enable you to use all different coloured embossing powders. I use heat it up embossing powder (hobbycraft do sell this) and although I've never had any problems with it I know others do prefer different brands
You can also use coloured ink pads with clear embossing powder- but they need to be 'pigment' based ink pads and not dye based as the pigment ones take longer to dry and give you longer to get your embossing powders onto the stamped ink.
I love stamping and embossing as it gives a great effect, if you google heat embossing you can find some You tube clips which I found really helpful when I started.
hope this helps, I dont have a great deal of punches so I'll leave those comments to someone else I think!
edit: here's s link I found on you tube http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=GvZEVu3HU7k
Thanks for the info Gemm i'll have a look at you tube, and will look forward to my OH spending a fortune in Hobbycraft:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: !2016 is the year I am going to find time for me, and cherish the time I spend with my friends and family. It is also time to save - Aim £4,000 - So far this year - £230/£4,0000 -
There's another cool thing you can do with clear embossing powder. If you get an image, topper etc and use a clear stamp pad and cover the whole surface with the ink, then sprinkle on the clear embossing powder and heat it, the image looks like its ceramic rather than paper. I hope this makes sense.0

I usually use coloured ink with clear embossing powder as it's a bit more forgiving when you're practising as it doesn't show if you don't manage to knock all the loose bits of before heating.
HTHOfficially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended
